I am a filmmaker and an avid Ghostbusters fan. I’ve loved the movie ever since I saw it on my 8th birthday way back in 1984. I am so inspired by all of the fandom out there from collecting, costume and prop making, clubs, and fan-films that I bought a 1963 Cadillac hearse way back in 2007 to make a Ghostbusters-inspired ECTO-1 out of it (BUSTN63).
Although I am still a ways from this coming to fruition, I recently have become encouraged to make a documentary about us, the Ghostbusters fan. With all the love and devotion that this franchise has from us, I thought a film about it would be a fitting tribute to the best, the beautiful, the ONLY…GHOSTBUSTERS FANS!
My idea is to travel all over the country in my BUSTN63 to all types of fans to tell our story of what this film means to us and how it has shaped who we are, and then culminate in Manhattan in front of the fire house with as many fans as possible for the finale of the film.
So my question is:
Who amongst us would be interested in seeing this movie?
I’d like to get a good idea to see if this is worth doing.
So let me know and give some suggestion as to what you would like to see in a Ghostbusters fan documentary!
I think if you focus on how the fans use their passion to lift up the community, the movie would turn out to be very heartwarming. I love hearing stories of how ghostheads will go the extra mile to help others or put smiles on children’s faces.
My local franchise raises thousands of dollars for charity. They raised over $5,000 holiday season 2014 and donated it (in the form of toys) to the West Virginia Children’s Home Society.
Maybe you can have a bit about charity work and so on. But a lot of costume clubs do that so you may feature the unique challenges faced by Ghostbusters. We don’t really benefit from the name recognition or the organization of Star Wars clubs.
Just FYI There is one currently in production based out of Canada that’s going to focus on fans I. The U.S., Canada, Mexico, Austrailia, Italy, and the UK with Robin Shelby (Slimer in GB2) set to narrate.
Ghostheads is selling shirts with their logo to help fund their Documentary here’s the link if interested (Mods this is not my project, but I do support it and thought the shirts were cool)
So I’m the guy writing and directing this documentary. It’s been a great pleasure and honor getting to know everyone through their interviews. We now have interviews with the cast and crew of the Ghostbusters film series. We need your help to finish this project to the bets of our ability. How can you help?
