Ghostbusters full size poster search

I have a GBII poster from when I was a kid, but I thought I’d get one of the first film to display with it. It’s maddening trying to find a poster from the first film! They all seem to be odd sizes and not the size of what I imagine for a standard movie poster in 84 (approx. 27x41 inches). I’m looking for the one with the 3 guys in the road, the dark sky opening/swirling above them. As I remember it in theatres, the no ghost symbol was NOT behind them.

I don’t need an original. A reprint would be fine by me as long as it was of good quality. Anyone know where I can get one?

They had these all the time during the annual campus poster sale last time I checked. I bought a few of them. Dunno if they still have them or not but they were only like $15 each.

Mate, they’re on eBay all the time. I have the very same poster (but not a reprint) that I picked up for $35.

facepalm I never even thought of ebay. Didn’t see any at the campus poster sale for many years (I work there, not dragging my feet getting the degree). It’s here this week so I’ll check it out again. Thanks for the tips guys!

No problem. I got mine on eBay about 2-3 years ago… mint and folded… I’m not sure if that one was ever released “rolled”… the original one has a white border and is folded (if I’m correct)… Looks great under glass

this what you are after ???

approximately 24x36 inches

That wouldn’t be it. The original would be 27x40 (I think it’s actually 29x42 because of the white border)… Not 100% sure on that.

Any 24x36’s like the link you posted would be reprints.

THIS is it…

Not necessarily. That’s a daybill size and were pretty common in Australian cinemas at least. The bigger posters you’re talking about are one-sheets.

Personally I prefer collecting daybills because they’re cheaper to frame and look really nice displayed on walls. Daybills were also folded like you mentioned.

Here’s some of mine:

US theaters don’t use 24x36 posters… Almost any poster that size is a reprint of a 27x40 or 27x41 one-sheet. I’m just posing up what the guy said he was originally looking for…

PS… Love the Superman set!

I can get you the teaser poster and the regular poster orginals from 89. But there folded local theater supply company buys all the posters after the movie is pulled from the theater great condition just folded ! Pm me and ill get you a price!

Since I have the GBII poster (approx. 27x40), I’ll look for a similar size for framing. Now I need to decide if I want the htf version with the no-ghost symbol or the one without. I’m thinking I’ll wait for Christmas to pass to see if the wife goes all nine-yards and manages to get one. If not, then I’ll get one off ebay.

WHOA… i’ve never seen that version of the stripes poster. sweet! you have a fantastic poster collection!

A lot of these were printed for Aussie cinemas, that’s kinda why I like posters in this size and format. But they haven’t made them like this for nearly 10 years, most cinemas here use the standard US one-sheets now.

I’ve got heaps more, like Meatballs, Serpico, The Poseidon Adventure, Young Guns 1 & 2, BTTF 2, and I’ve got a few more waiting to be framed also. Just not enough walls to hang them on, hehe. But the Superman collection is my definite favourite at the moment.

Good call

The one without the GB logo might be rarer, I’m not sure. Haven’t really seen it that often compared to the alternate version. So that might be the one to get.

I’ve also got a few “sequel” posters waiting to find their mates. For some reason Part 2 posters are always easier to find than posters of the original movie. In my experience anyway.

dude i got my GB poster at an Alpaca Clothing store of all places!
