Just downloaded it a bit ago… it’s cute, but a tad lacking. I need to play it some more to fully experience it, but it does have some fun artwork on the menu and between levels! : )
Darn, now I have to get an iPhone…LOL
You really don’t, this gb game is kinda pointless…not for the price anyway…
It’s terrible
I wouldn’t say it’s terrible. It’s a fun little time-waster, but there’s really nothing specifically “ghostbusters” about it. This game could be made with anything… There is really nothing about this game that screams ghostbusters. Yeah sure… you trap ghosts… but the way you do it has nothing to do with ghostbusters. You could just as easily replace the ghostbusters & their proton streams with landscapers with leaf blowers. Replace the ghost with a ping pong ball, and the trap could be replaced by a basketball hoop or something. It’s interchangeable. The Wii/Ps2/PS3/360 versions are definitely ghostbusters… You have the wrangling.. the trapping… all that fun stuff. This version just doesn’t have anything that is specifically ghostbusters related that holds. Anything ghostbusters related (The characters, the equipment, or the theme song) could easily be replaced with something else.
It’s not horrible, but it’s definitely not worth 5 bucks. This game seems like something you could play for free on a site like miniclip.com. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if you can find this same game without the ghostbusters “theme” somewhere else.
For anyone on the fence about purchasing this game…i say DON’T do it until the price drops. If they drop it to 99 cents, go for it. If it stays at 5 bucks… stay away from it. there is nothing about it that makes it special enough to justify a purchase.
Edit: I’ll take some screencaps and post them here.
Here are the screencaps.
The basic idea of the game is to guide the ghost from point A to point B while avoiding obstacles like slime covered walls/floors & innocent bystanders who walk by at certain points. The ghostbusters are standing on blocks with arrows pointing in a particular direction. When you touch the screen the ghostbuster(s) that are in range of the ghost will begin firing their proton streams at the ghost and they will guide it in the direction of the arrows indicated on the block. (I.e. if the block is pointing to the left the ghostbuster will guide the ghost left.) The idea is to navigate the ghost through these maze-like levels to the end point where a trap is waiting for them. The controls could not be more simple. You simply touch any point on the screen. You don’t have to touch the ghostbuster you want to use.. you don’t have to touch the square… You simply touch the screen and the ghostbuster(s) closest to the ghost will fire.
The art style isn’t bad. It’s cute and it reminds me of the Ghostbusters game on the Sega Genesis back in the day, but there is nothing that particularly stands out about it.
The maps are divided into regions of New York.

Here are some screencaps of the gameplay. I believe this is the first level. I’m actually in the Manhattan area now, but I went back to the first area (The Bronx) so i didn’t “spoil” anything for anyone who’s interested in the game.

Like i said in my previous post… It’s not a terrible game, but the ghostbusters could easily be replaced in this game by anything else. There is nothing ghostbuster-specific about this game. The pricetag is definitely not a selling point. Again, I would recommend waiting until the price drops to 99 cents before picking this one up. It’s not a “must have” ghostbusters game. It’s forgettable, at best, but it’s still a good way to kill time when you’ve got nothing better to do.
Gotta say I’m really disappointed on this one. This is nothing more than an updated model of the game they released several months ago for other cell phones.
