I bought this graphic novel a couple of weeks ago & read it, its set right after the first movie! Have any of u guys read it, it came out a handful of years ago, at the back it say volume 2 coming soon but ive never seen another story in the “Legion” title, just wondering really if it is avaliable where can i get it & is it any good because id love to see more of these stories?
You must have the Titan Books trade paperback, because the hardcover that was supposed to be released by the original publisher, 88MPH Studios, was solicited three years ago and still isn’t out. The four issue Legion mini-series and the one-shot* Zeddemore Factor* were the only comics 88MPH released.
Legion was only a mini-series, that should have led to an ongoing series, but it didn’t because the guy running the company is…well, let’s just say the words “crook” and “idiot” get bandied around a lot.
It’s a shame, because the writing and art was awesome. In a better world, where the license was in the hands of someone with business sense…
(Oh heck, I haven’t done it on this board yet)
If Legion #1 had come out as scheduled in February 2004, it would have ended it’s four-issue run in May. With a planned month off, the first issue of the ongoing series would have come out in July 2004.
Assuming it kept a steady monthly schedule and sales strong enough to keep publishing, March 2008 would have seen the release of Ghostbusters #45
And possibly around a dozen trade paperbacks collecting the issues
wait, so im confused. is there a difference between the 88MPH and Legion?
in a side note, i only need 3 more of the ‘retailer exclusives’ and the first comic of the steve kurth covers and i have the whole set of the ones from 88MPH.
i do have an extra copy of issues 2 and 3 of the variant covers and the retailer exclusive from BullDog Distribution, so pm me if anyone is interested.
88MPH was the company that published Ghostbusters: Legion. Titan Books, a company based in England, published a trade paperback of the series once it was finished–I suspect that is what you have. Titan Books never published a Vol. 2 because 88MPH never got around to making their ongoing series (Vol.2 of the Titan Books’ series probably would have been the first few issues of the 88MPH ongoing)
So while 88MPH=Ghostbusters Legion to a great extent, it’s not total.
Titan Books also published a few compilations of the short, simplistic RGB stories that Marvel UK published from around 1988-1992 or so.
You can find out a lot more about Ghostbusters comics at this web site:
As Fritz said, the Titan books isn’t what 88MPH released. They are short Real Ghostbusters stories, very simply and very kiddied. They’re ok, but some of them are pretty horrible.
Ghostbusters Legion and the Zeddemore factor are the only comics released by 88MPH. A collection of the mini-series was supposed to be released but has yet to be, three years later. Many people have tried to get refunds, but as far as I heard, it’s not going very well.
Thanks for the info Fritz, i just had to know because i read this recently & got to the back cover & saw the Ad for volume 2 & got kinda excited but looking at the yr this story was published & not ever seeing this volume number 2 i thought maybe it was to good to be true :whatever:
Yes it is published by Titan Books & the story is quite good with decent artwork but i think i would have liked the story more if it had artwork in the RGB style Egon with the blonde quiff etc… but all in all quite good just a shame there isnt a part 2! Another thing what makes me laugh is the way Stantz is drawn with a good well toned body, Dan Aykroyd would be proud hehe
Hey man, a little off topic, but just wondering where you got this comic in the UK? or if you ordered from the states?
Lawrence
Hi there Loly2kn2, always glad to help out any Gbusters espec us UK fans!! I bought my graphic novel from Waterstones, ive also seen it in WH smith stores
Sweet! thanks for the reply! i’ll have a look next time im in one of those shops!!
Lawrence
i cant find anywhere in mine where it says titan books. but these are the ones i have
http://www.88mph.net/index.php?content=legion.php. so then what are they… legion, 88mph, titan books?
There is supposed to be huge Ghostbusters news to be announced at the San Diego ComicCon this summer (correct me if I am wrong). Maybe they are going to annonce the new monthly comic book series. Just a thought.
Lol… they tried that once.
Um…the Titan Books were stories BASED on The Real Ghostbusters Ghostbusters. So the artwork was drawn like the cartoon. I think you’re mixing up the Titan Books, which are a collection of small RGB stories, with the comics by 88MPH, which were based on the movie Ghostbusters.

A few months ago I purchased on ebay the 88mph series and its a paperback. It is a completely black cover with the giant ghost logo and it says legion under it. Its the 4 part series and the Zeddemore factors in it. It was all nice done. I was able to fine the 3rd and 4th issues only around here until I saw this on ebay a while back.Im glad I have it.
How much was it?
oh, so the 88mph series is the legion book, just broken into four parts; right?
Correct. The four comics were the original printings. The book is a reprint.
I ordered the hard cover when they first had the “pre-order”. Does anyone know if they still plan to send them out eventually or are they offering some sort of refund for those who ordered back then?
No official refund has been offered, nor is there any suggestion the book will ever be published.
Yeah 88mph really screwed the pooch on that one.
The Ecto-1 lithographs were susposed to be a drive towards getting the book published.
