What are the differences in the proton beam in the Ghostbusters movies compared to RGB?
ummm one is drawn, and the other is CGI.
What I meant was, is there a difference in color, shape, ect.
Surely you’ve seen the movie and at least one episode of the cartoon. The differences are pretty obvious.
Umm they didn’t use CGI in the movies. Can someone back me up on this? I’m pretty sure it was old fashion rotoscoping.
Definately rotoscoping. I mean, I don’t have any official proof for that, but that’s what I’d say offhand, based on the look of the effect, and the fact that CG wasn’t really used in the eighties, and when it was, it was quite primitive.
The first movies beams were several layers of optical effects ranging from classically animated beams to miniaturized explosions. In GBII they made the leap into the digital realm with CG beams.
That makes sense…the GB2 beams were definately a lot tighter/cleaner looking.
Yes, very much so. I haven’t seen the RGB cartoons in a while, I just wanted to know if there were any differences in the proton beams.

Depends on the episode, in some the beams weren’t that similar (A few latter season ones had fully red beams…), while other had a yellow central beam with blue arc lightning.
