Ghostbusters "HD"

Am I alone in being totally annoyed with HDTV channels complete lack of ability to broadcast Ghostbusters in HD? In the last 6 months the movie has been on 6 or 7 different channels that claim to be HD, yet they keep playing a 4:3 VHS tape version of the movie with pillar bars! The movie has been available in widescreen for over 10 years. If they don’t want to broadcast it in its original 2.35:1 format, they could at least play it cropped to 16:9 in High Def, or upconverted from DVD. I’m paying for HD channels, they play other movies in HD on these channels, why is a movie so well regarded getting such crappy broadcast quality?

Its my fault.

We don’t even have an HDTV.

Get the Bluray  I’ve never actually stumbled upon it on TV in years. What station plays it?

Don’t have a blu-ray player or PS3, I’d love to get one, just don’t have it yet. Off the top of my head it’s been on VH1HD, Comedy Central HD, Bravo HD, G4 HD, A&E HD, and a few others I can’t recall. A&E was the worst, they still had the 4:3 VHS copy, but they stretched it out to fill the 16:9 frame so that everybody’s head looked like a football (wasn’t my TV display settings, other channels looked normal including, 4:3 SD channels.)

I don’t have a HD TV either but my computer does have an HD/bluray drive and HD monitor. Funny thing that happened to me was my cable company called up wanting me to try out their HD package and I told them no. They keeped on me about how much clearer HD is and all that and then I told them I don’t even have a HD TV and then they started,

'Well you should buy one" at which point I hung up the phone.
