you know you guys didn’t have to all go postal with your response’s. all i’m saying is i’ve played alot movie tie-in video games in the past and was utterly let down by alot of them. so while i’m excited that ghostbusters is coming out in video game form for the new gen systems i just want to make sure that this is the real deal, and not just a bunch of hype. you know what i’m saying? so forgive me for being a little close-minded.
My current avatar pic as well as my signature quote are from the film “Be Kind Rewind”
We don’t mean to sound “postal” it’s just that some of us here tend to just assume that everyone else on the board has been following the progress of this game with the same obsessive, life consuming, stalker-esque consistency. Anyone who has done so wouldn’t be worried about whether the game is a “must buy” or not because us obsessives know how impressive the game looks, the potential it has and the work that has gone into making it the standard for which all movie licensed games will be judged.
It could still be a let down and the reviews could be underwhelming but with everything we now know it doesn’t seem likely… and by we I mean the people who have been following it every single, solitary inch of the way.
To be honest even if the reviews were ■■■■ I would still get it because of what it is.
The game looks good and from watching vids it looks like it plays good as well. However there is still the chance of it being naff as much as there is a chance of it being a 10/10. Until we play the demo we will have no idea of how it is shaping up. So in many respects I’m not getting carried away.
However, personally I really think that the extra 6 months will have made a big difference. It seemed to me that it was going to be rushed out for last October and may have lacked the polish needed to push it into the 70%+ category of games. I think now with the extra 6 months, which is a lot of time to work on a game when the major components are there, will push this one into the 80%+ ratings. The game looks more polished all round. Some of the ghosts have better textures, the edge of the screen blacks out now when you have the goggles on, the cinematics look a lot more atmospheric, there was the problem with anti aliasing and the rookies head which now looks fixed. God knows what else has been improved that we haven’t seen.
I really think we will all be thanking the delay come June.
That’s very true, but there’s an important bit to remember that sets this movie tie-in apart from a lot of the others, it hasn’t been rushed out for a movie release. They’v apparently been working on this since 2006 and as Lionbrush said, have also had the added time of the “delay” to tweak it.
I suggest get it on release day, if you don’t enjoy it and still have the receipt you can return it the next day.
That’s assuming that, you’ll be able to find it. If you cant’ tell by watching all of the video, and seeing all of the screenshots, that this game is going to be FREAKIN’ AWESOME! then, I don’t know what to tell you.
Depending on where he’s from, he won’t be able to return it for the purchase price, if it is opened, but instead will either have to, A.) Sell it back to the store (for less than half of what he paid for it), B.) Trade it for, another game of equal, or lesser value, or C.) Keep it and enjoy it anyway, cause’ it’s GHOSTBUSTERS!!!
after watching the latest ign video i verry well take back what i said earlier about buying this game the day after it’s release. if it was out right now i would rush to the nearest target’s, wall-mart or gamestop and purchase this game toot-suite.
On the main page the Atari logo at the bottom links to Atari.com, but on the US site it links to Sierra.com, as you pointed out. Funny thing is, I could have sworn that the link pointed to the correct site a month or two ago.
On all of the other sites (for the other languages), it points to Atari.com. It’s only the U.S. site that’s screwed up
Speaking of the game site…when are they finally going to add the last three games? The last time a game was added was way back in July before Activision dropped the game.
