Halloween Albums

I like how the GB theme has continued on through Halloween music collections. I work at Wal-Mart, and on my way out tongight I stopped to look at the Halloween CD’s and all of them with music had Ghostbusters on it. I don’t want it to be stero typed as a Halloween song but I like that it still lives on somehow.

From what I have gathered, people associate the ‘idea’ of Ghostbusters with the song more readily than with the movie. I know it sounds weird, but you have to take into account the people who have no childhood connection with Ghostbusters. If they have not seen the movie, or have no interest in watching it, I bet you they have heard the song enough to sing it, be it because it’s played on the radio during Halloween or at parties.

Basically, there are probably way more people who are familiar with the song than there are people who know both the song and the movie.

*It’s about 24 1/2 years too late to want that - To my count it’s on every 9 out of 10 “Halloween” themed CD’s out there ever since the movie’s release in 1984…

*Hell I even own a Wal-Mart Plush Halloween Ghost with a saxaphone, from the late '90’s, that dances when you get near it, and plays the theme song…

*Cheers.

Heck last yeat the nightclub that me and my frineds go to religiously used the Ghostbusters logo in thier posters for thier Halloween party…I of course managed to get my hands on one of those posters which now sits on my wardrobe door!

Aside from it’s use now, the song was VERY popular in the late 80’s. I remember roller-skating to that song in elementary school.

Still I think it’s cool that the song is used that much. Who knows, maybe people who have never seen the movies will wonder because of the song, and then a new generation will come to love all things GB.

My hopes exactly!
