Hello, some of you know me from GBN, most of you haven’t a foggiest who I am. So keeping that in mind, I am going to do 2 things with this thread in order to kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak.
First off I want to introduce myself. My name is Thomas, but you can call me James, Thomas…even Cath or Catharis (WoW character name [have actually answered to that in person before]) if you wish.
My infatuation with the Ghostbusters began at a young age with the premier of the Real Ghostbusters. Almost immediately I found a favorite character in that of Egon with his dry wit and monotone voice. For much of my childhood I believed that Egon was the leader of the Ghostbusters due to his technical no-how and the fact that it seemed to me like everything was always happening to him…it wasn’t until years later when I finally got to see the movies that I was finally correct. Even now I hold a special place in my heart for Spengs and Maurice LaMarche who in my mind will always be more Egon that Ramis
Ok, now that introductions are out of the way…I just wanted to ask if anyone was going to be dressing up for Halloween and if so what
Halloween is my holiday. I’ve quit jobs over Halloween. I will work on Christmas, New Years, 4th of July, etc. But never on Hallow’s Eve.
The last few years I’ve been the Stay Puft Marshmallow man. I made the costume myself, and i’ve won many contests with it.
This year, however, I am building a pack and putting together a uniform. I’m going to be a Ghostbuster.
I love home-made costumes. It makes me sad that it’s become the norm to buy one off the shelf at Wal Mart. And I HATE Halloweenies (The “Scrooges” of Halloween). I don’t care if teenagers trick or treat, so long as they’re in costume. I hate the high school kids who put 0 effort into Halloween… just walk around in their notmal clothes with a pillow case. Those kids get 0 candy from me… that is, if I’m at home handing it out at all and not out trick or treating myself. I don’t want candy… just to show off my costume lol
I’m hoping I get an excuse to dress up in my Ghostbusters getup at least once this October. I only wear it for costume contests, parades, and other special occasions and then make a second costume to wear to friends’ parties and the like.
My costume this year should be fairly simple if I can get all the pieces together and find a way to scratchbuild a wearable Energy Dome…
I got a fiberglass dome that was fan made off ebay awhile back. Took alot of abuse but eventually died from being hit and dropped too much. I got the official yellow suit a few years back, now I need to get the new rubdown lettering since it’s almost completely worn off. The suit came with the vaccumformed one I’m wearing in my avatar. I believe the devo store now has a new hard plastic one that was made from the originals.
I’m not sure if the dimensions are listed anywhere, so I would focus on it fitting your head comfortably.
I hope to wear my GB outfit to a contest. I’m also thinking of going to an event and hanging out with other people in costumes and take pictures. Ultimately, I still haven’t figured it out.
