Basicly what Glenn Gamble told me is that there was over 70 minutes of music that Elmer Bernstein composed for GB1 that was never used that is in the game… There might be a few inserts from GB2, but mostly the GB1 score and the 70 minutes of music that was never used…
I just figured that you’d do that as a part of the big countdown, with the excitement that could be generated by the “1 Day to Go” banner… don’t let me force your hand in the matter, as it’s your time.
Either way, I also want to profess my liking of the banners.
Thanks. I like your idea of the daily countdown. I guess if I go with a 10 day countdown I’ll need to throw a new banner up this Saturday. I’ll try to get a bunch ready to go tonight.
Nah, just playin. Seriously though… you should create a thread after release in the fan art section with all the banners you’ve made. It would be cool to have them somewhere to be seen by all considering you put the effort into creating them. It would be a shame for them all to go un-noticed… especially since so many people here (including myself) enjoyed seeing the new ones you threw together as the time passed.
Great idea, you should also include the monthly ones that date back to when the game was supposed to come out last year! That is if you haven’t deleted them Robo..
Hmmm, an hourly countdown. I’ll get started on it!
lol
I’m pretty sure I’ve trashed most of the old banners, but I know I have a few still saved; However, I really don’t consider them fan art. It’s just me taking screen shots and throwing a number and text with it, but thanks for the compliments & suggestions just the same. Believe it or not, this started as a monthly countdown back in early 2008 (I can’t remember the exact date). Crazy how time flies.
I pretty much know what screens/pics I’ll be using for the 10 day countdown (gotta love using work time to plan this out). I’ll whip them out tonight; I really don’t think It’ll take me over 10- 20 minutes.
Plus, here’s hope’n we get a demo SOON! Watching vids of other people bust’n just isn’t enough any more.
I think all of us fans are salivating over this. The average person probably won’t notice that it’s a new version, but the rest of us run around with the theme in our heads. It would be great to have the new version. I wonder if they will release a game soundtrack.
I saw in Castewar’s review that all of the “new” music is in the Elmer Bernstein film score album.
I listened to the whole thing, and found it is still missing some stuff I was hearing in the game.
One of my favorite “new” tracks is the one you hear while doing battle with Azetlor, the destroyer. Anyone have a clue where one might be able to get his hands on some of the “new” stuff?
I think its sad he re-recorded it and for some reason TR barely used the song. I can only thing of hearing it once during the game. I was a bit disappointed with the music. I was hoping for some liberal use of “Savin the day” and “Ghostbusters” but i heard was all this other ■■■■. But at least the game is awesome so its easy to ignore the soundtrack.
I guess I feel the opposite. I was quite satisfied with the soundtrack. I would have actually been disappointed if they threw in songs with lyrics into the game other than “Ghostbusters.”
A) I’m facing down a 40 foot tall rampaging demigod that is tossing my friends around like rag dolls…an upbeat “Savin’ the Day” seems out of place to me.
B) Hearing the lyrics bleeds into dialogue, and listening to a singer while listening to Egon and Ray just gets annoying.
C) It would have been a pain for Terminal Reality to go through the process of getting rights from the artists for a list of other songs. I’m glad they just stuck to one.
I dont know how relevant this is but, i’ve got the GB1 soundtrack and in the inlay they talk about the use of “pop and rock” songs.
Basically Bernstein composed music but in some parts they were replaced with things like Savin’ the Day and that.
I have noticed that all those bits do sound very strange and slightly jarring from the rest of the score.
Whats called the “Theme” was used in the entire film as one theme, just different versions and this comes apparent when listening to it.
I have to admit I havend got the game so I cant pick out specific bits, but I gues they used all the music from the score, including the bits that wernt used, and the alternate takes on some of the tracks, and i guess they might have stuck in some other music that was made for events that the Bernstein score couldnt cary.
It’s better than the Wii version. I was playing the Wii version the other day and I’m wandering around the firehouse exploring everything and the music that was playing just didn’t make sense at all. Rather than having some kind of calm music to wander around the firehouse to they had the bit from the score when (in the movie) Venkman had just gotten slimed by Slimer & Ray was running through the halls to see if he was alright.
I didn’t have a problem with the soundtrack. I felt they used the music appropriately and it didn’t feel forced to me. I enjoyed it. My only quip with it is that it gets louder than the dialogue at some points. Fortunately in the audio settings you can lower the volume of the music.
Thought I would throw in my two cents as well. As an avid OST collector and a ■■■■■■■■ GB fan like you all are as well I, I too, have noticed some of the ‘newer’ tracks in the video game. I’ve searched and searched for the new tracks since the game first came out and have had no luck. And for some reason I decided to read the forums today and thought I’d see what everyone else had found. Looks like I’m not the only one who loves the new tracks.
The song that caught my attention the most was when you rescue Winston on Shandor Island. Right after you rescue him you have to fight three to four blue ghosts on the floor above. The music then kicks as you do battle and it is E-P-I-C!!! Makes you feel like you are really trying to save the world.
Next time you play that level you’ll see what I mean.
And overall, I was very happy with the Bernstein score being worked into the game. It’s the official GB sound in my world. Much better than the GB2 score which lacked character that the first movie had. Using it in the game gave me a sense of nostalgia and I immediately associated with the first movie while playing the game.
