Has anyone talked about the "new" music?

After watching some of the videos for the upteenth time I noticed some mysterious background music in certain clips.

All I’ve heard about the use of music in the game from the various articles/interviews is that we’re getting the Bernstein score as well as music Bernstein composed but wasn’t used in the final cut of the film. At no point to my knowledge has anyone from TR mentioned anything about original music composed for the game.

Some of it sounds pretty cool and some of it (especially the music playing during that new Wii “hunt with the remote” footage) sounds awful. It’s also a bit jarring in that the style is completely different to the Bernstein score. It’s almost like comparing Bernsteins score to Randy Edelman’s shudder GB2 score, it’s a completely different tone but this time it’s in the same story!

Has anyone from TR commented on the new music, how/when it will be used in game and why it was needed etc?

I haven’t heard anything about the music from TR, but that would make a good subject for their blog on IGN…

I know this is a debated piece of info, but I swear that I’ve read that they have access to BOTH film scores and unreleased material from each. I like the music in the clip where it’s Ray and the rookie in the library and Ray says “Mind the papercuts.” Sounds pretty cool.

As per TR - They do have access to all music… including music that was previously un-used. On top of that they have original scores too.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the material Bernstein composed wouldn’t be able to fill every instance. They’d have to score their own tracks for scenes and events that didn’t happen in the film, or ran longer than existing tracks could’ve covered.

I know some people would love to get their hands on the GB2 score(despite what some say) not necessarily in the game but in general since it’s doubtful it appear in the game I hate to say. I love the score to the first movie but it’s weird hearing some of the tracks I’ve come to associate with certain events used as action music or whatever now for the game. Not really a complaint so much as a weird little observation thing to me personally  Granted the music had to come from somewhere. Better from Ghostbusters than some random place. I’m sure it’ll fit the tone of the game.

That’s funny.I’ve felt the same way about the music. It almost seems out of place after being associated with specific events in the first movie and hearing it used somewhere else.Should be cool hearing all the music used in different ways during the full game.

I think it would have been quite interesting to hear the RGB action/busting sequence music in some of the GB:TVG busting sequences.

i know the perfect song to get your grove on while busting ghosts judas priest’s “nightcrawler,” it may not have been a part of the ghostbusters soundtracks but after hearing it. it would feel appropiate for levels such as the spiderwitch level, because it’s a dark level and this song would work because it to is dark.

Has anyone confirmed that RPJ re-recorded the theme song? I swear the clips of it I’m hearing in the trailers (especially the new E3 trailer) sounds different than the 1984 version… Subtle, but idifferent to my ear.

Yeah it’s been confirmed he re-recorded the song for the game. Why, I have no idea…

You can definately tell the song is slightly different in the new Wii trailer…it kinda bugs me a bit. I know, I’m kinda ■■■■-retentive.

LMAO @ your new sig

That’s awesome!!!

I’m going to miss these weekly countdown banners from Roborob. The ONLY thing I’m going to miss about waiting for this game..

Ditto! It kept things interesting around here wondering what banner was going to come up the following week.

Back on topic… I did notice the music is different too… My guess is that they wanted to give it a fresh sound rather than recycling the old song over and over again. It’s not horrible. It sounds pretty much the same as it did before, but it sounds newer. That’s not necessarily a bad thing for me.

Plus it gives RPJ something to do…I mean, what exactly does he do these days?

Ummm… commercials in the UK? lol :whatever:

To quote Andrew Dice Clay… “He needed the money! Oh!”

Thanks. I can’t believe there is only one banner left to go. Maybe I’ll start them back up for GB3…if it ever gets made.

And it would definitely seem he’s milking that GB theme for all he can get. I wonder… did he learn that from Actiblizzard?

@ROBOrob That would be awesome!!
