Hello fellow ghostheads! My name is Bart, and I’ve been a lurker on GBfans for a while, but for some reason never joined. I decided today to change that. I’m currently studying at Germanna Community College as an electrical engineer and plan to transfer to VCU this fall to finish my BS. I live in Fredericksburg, but have lived in various parts of the state over the past few decades. For the last decade, I’ve been a devoted Nissan fan, doing lots of custom work on various 90s era Nissans, most notably the 240SX. I’m currently planning a full restoration of my '92 240SX convertible to be a weekend roadcourse warrior and all around fun car. Since she’s no longer my daily driver, I’ve opened up the proverbial pandora’s box for suspension kinematics and have been blueprinting a setup that should maximize performance but sacrifices ride comfort.
More pertinent stuff about me in relation to all things Ghostbusters is that my parents took me to see the first film when it was in the theaters at the ripe age of 2.5. After that, I followed the Saturday morning cartoon on CBS, taping each episode so I could wear out the VHS cassette. My copy of the first movie was on betamax (!! I know right?!) and the story goes that I had watched the movie so many times I could recite it backwards as I rewound the film from the end to start over. I never did finish the NES game. I would always get to the apartment building and then get creamed by the ghosts as I tried to run the team up the stairwell. I vaguely remember getting past that point once with a game genie code. Suffice to say, I probably spent too many hours of my childhood obsessed with Ghostbusters. Quite a few halloweens in elementary school were spent as one. I had the kenner proton pack and trap and would go hunt the neighborhood on Friday the 13ths.
As I’ve aged, my appreciation for all things Ghostbusters has moved away from a childhood obsession and to an adult appreciation for the tight writing of the movies and subtle comedy played perfectly by the cast.
Anywho, that’s a little more than most people wanted to know about me! but I’m just glad to be a part of the community.
