I went out as the 11th Doctor for this years Free Comic Book Day now I’ve planned to do Egon one for 2016’s but I’ll need to build my own Proton pack so I can be him for the next year’s event
So now should I buy the parts I need from Videobob? like the knob to the hoses he has or from here, if I get the shell from here?
I like Bob’s props it so high quality stuff and what I can do for the lights and Sound I was thinking powering it with an Arudino Uno and get a sketch then upload it to the Uno and have it as the main controller board to control everything for it with a 9v lithium ion battery pack with at least 5,000 mAH so it can drain but still have enough for startups and shutdowns.
I have HProp’s sounds with few mods for the sounds and I’ll need to program the sketch to go in the wand loop and then shutdown when I release the button. So where I should start first by making my Proton Pack replica? I’m gonna call mine the Proton Pack Mark 3000 with a cool powered by Ardiuno sticker one on it XD
Okay I was just hoping to get the parts from him and I could order Mattel’s Replica Wand for 150 bucks.
Sounds like an issue with his recastin’ issue of the shells I could get the parts from here and on what I’ll need here it did said on the shop it requires sanding and painting on most of the parts he sells.
All of his parts are ■■■■■■ quality. You can polish a turd, but you can’t with Bob’s parts. And his parts are only compatible with his shells, and he’s a sleezy guy. Steer clear
I would heed the advice of my esteemed colleagues here.
Most of the reputable sellers, and even commissioned builders, are here and sell excellent equipment, parts, accessories.
I invite you to read and study the feedback forum, build a budget on what you can and cannot afford, and obviously your timeline for completion.
I dunno how much cheaper it would be to do an Arduino set up (I always factor in “time” as a cost - I like to think it is valuable) as opposed to buying a simple plug and play kit - GBFans has an excellent kit for that.
At any rate, for the love of God, avoid VideoBob. The man is a terrible human being (seriously) and if nothing else, please read the Feedback for him that is stickied on the Feedback Thread.
There’s a reason the guy is banned on EVERY prop replica forum out there.
The sad part is, I had a friend go to a free comic book day up by me and he photographed two busters in full uniform. I could tell INSTANTLY they both had bobs packs. They stick out like a sore thumb with his awful hot glue weld lines and poor overall quality. Many sellers on here have amazing parts that we have all used on our packs. This site really is a one stop shop.
