i would try the hprops gun box assembly templates. if thats too difficult for a week then get two 1.5 dia. pvc pieces at about 7" and connect them two some sort of project box. it wont be remotely close to movie specs but will resemble a gun of sorts.

I saw someone was doing a gun body out of an electrical box-- a’la Gareee. Looked pretty darn good!
My gunboxes are actually made from, believe it or not, insulation foam!
And they’ve held up far better then I would have expected of them.
Was just about to suggest the foam myself, but garee beat me to it. I can atest to the foam also, works great, and is much more durable than your eyes are led to believe. Insulation foam also makes a fantastic, quick solution for a quick ion arm assembly. Also, I painted it with black rustoleum textured paint (looks like black primer), and it didn’t melt in the slightest. Hope this helps, and good luck. You’re cutting it as close as I am.
Yeah, I worded that wrong. I meant that you were the pioneer who introduced the electrical boxes-- anytime I see someone using those things, I harken back to your build thread.
I made mine using that, an electrical box…I’m not really looking to be movie accurate, just doing the look and it came out very good.
I used a Red Dot Code Keeper model CKMUV and the dimensions were very close to the plans…

I found it at Home Depot, not cheap but neither expensive…for me it was a good replacement and not so much trouble building. I’ll post photos of the wand later. PM me…
