I mourn the genereation that will one day wonder what pens and paper are…what a keyboard was. “Alright, class, your homework is due. Make sure to give me the link to your video report.”
What I find best is that you decide to pick on a comment that really had no problem with your video but, moreover, the progression and death of the basic writing tools in exchange for technology.
I sometimes work with a bookbinder who makes various styles of journals and I really feel that this day is closer than we fear. I can’t tell you how many times people would come into the store, look at all the journals and writing utensils as though it were a museum, and then make some stupid comment like “Yeah, but how many apps can you get with these?”
On topic, however, I recently thought it would be awesome to meet Gene Wilder and I am more than mildly jealous that sspdirect01 got to meet such an amazing and talented person. Too bad you didn’t get any photos, man, but it’s cool you met the legend.
This is exactly what I was getting at. It was not a personal attack, atleast it wasn’t intended as such. I was simply pointing out my views on the inevitable over-reliance on technology…because that’s what I do.
And does this with a straight face whilst using the technology you mock so openly
In relation to the video - it may be an interesting party story to people you know, but to strangers it’s dull and delivered with a flat, uninteresting, monotony as though you were Ben Stein in Ferris Buellers Day Off.
I’m still waiting for the story on your meeting with Harry Connick Jr. I’m a big fan! Where were you when you met him, what did he say? Inquiring minds want to know.
I’ve never met Gene Wilder, BUT, Gene Wilder did donate a massive collection of his personal screenplays, and movie memorabilia to my University (of Iowa). I browsed through it a few months ago. There was a rough draft of “Young Frankenstein” with his personal handwritten notes scribbled throughout it, which I thought was f*ing awesome to see/touch in person, and I also found a short curly hair in one of his Richard Pryor movie scripts. I’m not 100% sure, but I think it was Gene Wilder’s hair. I was tempted to keep it. Don’t worry though, I didn’t. I’m not that creepy.
