I was watching GB2 again the other night and as I was falling asleep I had a thought about the logo. I KNOW it doesnt make sense to have logo plastered all over the place BUT I was thinkin about how the movie was basically giving a message about being nicer to each other and that hate isn’t the way (insert way of the jedi joke here). With that in mind what if the movie makers thought that they should change the logo to NOT ONLY mean GB2 but also peace. I know what your thinking, “they made a shirt that has the GB2 logo dressed as a hippie” and that was one of the other things that helped make that connection in my brain. I just thought that though its stupid for the logo to change IN the movie, I find its (possible) meaning clever.
Two different meanings: in the movie the new logo is meant to state “we’re back” while outside the movie the logo means that but can also be interpreted as a peace sign.
Actually I’ve always thought that it was meant to be a peace symbol also. It just kind of makes sense with the theme of the movie but who knows for sure.
a lot of different ideas have been thrown around,
Peace
Victory
of course a lot of “its dumb they advertise the movie within the movie, they ain’t know they in a movie”

a deleted tidbit in the montage “Half Price Service Plan” commercial and a lot of the promotion for the movie have them boasting “Twice the Know how and Twice the Particle Power” for twice the value for their services…
a clever way I thought they used it as advertising for the characters in the movie to drum up business as well as meaning "hey there’s a new Ghostbusters movie out. This got left on the cutting room floor and you’ll find a lot of people quick to dismiss it as being relevant but its what I always answer the question with…
What… I… why…
Why would they cut out the in-universe explanation for the film’s logo??? Almost as bad as cutting out the dialogue implying that the Gozer incident was a factor in Oscar being chosen as Vigo’s vessel. Instead, Oscar is apparently the only baby in New York City.
I did a quick check on IMDB, and GB2 had two editors. One Sheldon Kahn, who edited the first film, and a Donn Cambern. Despite a heaving helping of nostalgia, I had to turn off the Cambern-edited Harry and the Hendersons after 15 minutes because the editing was so abysmal. Absolutely no sense of timing, and screwed up geography.
So there. I feel comfortable placing 50% of the Ghostbusters 2 blame on Donn Cambern.
I wonder they probably never gave it a second thought that so many people would get bent out of shape over the logo being plastered everywhere in the movie…
Where for this bit of info come from?
Spook Central, but I can’t find it again for the life of me…
Found the page on the full version of the commercial, though! http://www.theraffon.net/~spookcentral/gb2_deleted08.htm
I think it’s the conversation with Dana when Egon, Ray, and Peter first investigate the First Avenue - on the Page 2 link of the GBII script here on Ghostbusters Fans.
DANA (worried, to Venkman) Peter, do you think maybe I have some genetic problem or something that makes me vulnerable to these supernatural things. VENKMAN You mean like the time you got possessed and turned into a monster terror dog? No, not a chance. Total coincidence. (to Stantz and Spengler) Am I right?Stantz and Spengler look at him skeptically, not convinced by the
coincidence theory.

Zack has to Explain this about 5 times a year.i never get sick of him telling us the how and why about the GB II logo but yes thats the meaning for the GB II logo ![]()
I had always thought the logo stood for (Inner peace) or bliss and happiness haha i don’t know :whatever: but the pic of Stantz obviously explians why the logo is the way it is.I could always imagine Venkman saying we need a new look so IMO he was the one with all the attire changes the logo change as venkman is the most charismatic one out of the group IMO it’s all down to him for the logo change ![]()
also people talked about how companies are always changing their logos. I think Coke was the example someone used. People had probably gotten used to seeing the same car driving around performing at birthday parties and they wanted to firmly establish they were, to steal from Doug E Fresh, back and all brand new…
I go along with the peace and victory too because of the themes in the movie as well as to get on peoples nerves who don’t like those theories
