yep… I got roped into working on my day off and didnt feel like being too productive… I was looking at the GB2 preproductions drawings and did a quick/dirty paint image of my take on the design… any suggestions on improving it?
also thinking of reviving my Ecto-150 project… you’ll have to imagine it as a Chevy now thought… any suggestions on this as well will be appreciated…
that’s actually not too shabby… though, exposed proton packs might not be a good idea, though I do like the side mounting idea. maybe have them like that in a storage bin on the side right where you have them now.
Get cracking on it! what kind of chevy do you have? My take on your drawing… iv’e always thought it was KICK ASS!!! are going to permanently mount everything, or make it temporary?
I’d be more apt to make it temporary right now, despite that its no longer my daily driver… Current gas prices and 4x4 V8 with 114 mi commute definately dosent mix… My truck now is a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 short-bed… A major problem is working around the vehciles black color, because repainting it is definately not an option…
exposed packs are a good idea and if you remember, the Ecto was originally supposed to be black…
I decided to mess around with the colours a little since you said you had a black truck. I just did a negative of your original design then changed some of the colours around a little. It’s just an idea.
I think I remember reading somewhere that the original design for the ecto-1 was a black ambulance/hearse with purple lights. I picked orange because when I did purple, it looked a little tacky.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
When you drive down the road in a black ecto, people are totally going to point and shout, “Dude, that looks EXACTLY like the original concept art of the Ectomobile from Ghostbusters!!”
I think if you put the logo on the side and make it look legit.. people aren’t going to care what color it is.
Unless it is like.. a Green Mustang..
What I am saying is they are completely unlikely to recognize it as a version of the conceptual design.
Purple would actually be quite fitting. While light color usage differs from state to state in the US, Im not sure if the purple is universal or not, but here in Connecticut its for funeral directors. So again, I think purple lights would almost be fitting for an ectomobile.
Valid point Boomer… but look at it like this, its eye-candy for the laymen either way but thoes who know (Ill admit I wasnt one of them) the original concept was black will probably have a strong appreciation twords it.
