Look at many of his films he has starred in where Wes has been the writer/director,
Rushmore(1998)
The Royal Tenenbaums(2001)
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou(2004)
The Darjeeling Limited (2007)
Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
Moonrise Kingdom (2012)
It’s pretty clear Bill loves the way this guy works, wouldn’t it be a great idea for Dan, and him to get a better script that Bill would approve of ? Just a thought.
Many also say GB2 was bad, Bill included. I think its interesting, they clearly have a working relationship together. Plus Dan would be in on the writing, never know it could work. Just a random thought I had when I saw a preview for the Moonrise Kingdom.
I feel like those are all indy films where as GB is a pretty big franchise, the two might not mesh well. I’ll admit I did have the same thought though when I IMDB’ed that director and saw Bill Murray in almost all of his movies.
I love Wes Anderson, but IMO, his style would never work with a GB film. The offbeat quirkiness that he does isn’t quite the same style of comedy (and that style is clearly something that Murray would rather be doing than a full-on blockbuster type of comedy the way GBIII would certainly be produced as).
And congrats on yet another Bill Murray-titled thread in the GBIII section.
Wes Anderson movies are awful? The ■■■■■■■ movies are awful? YOU’RE awful.
If you have seen a Wes Anderson movie you’d know they are nothing like Ghostbusters. Anderson has a certain kind of distinct style, while Ivan is a little… generic. Sure, Bill would probably do it, and I’d watch the shit out of that, but don’t expect it to be anything like Ghostbusters.
The problem with him doing GB III isn’t the director it’s the script.
But if you were going to use a different director for it (once you got a script that Bill Murray would do) I’d rather see someone like Sam Raimi or Joss Whedon take over the directing. Sam Raimi can mix horror, action, and comedy ( Evil Dead 2, Spiderman, Army of Darkness etc..) while Joss Whedon has shown he can mix those elements just as well (Buffy the TV show, The Avengers, etc..) as well as doing big ensemble pieces (The Avengers) His writing is also more geared to GB (Cabin in the woods). So I could see either of these guys taking the helm if Ivan Reitman decides he’s done and passes the directing to someone else, which I sincerely doubt would happen.
I DON’T WANT PAUL W.S. ANDERSON ANYWHERE NEAR THIS!
Are you insane? I mean, what were you thinking!? Don’t get me wrong, I kind of liked Event Horizon, and a few of the Resident Evil movies, even though they have little to nothing to do with Resident Evil… but still! No. NO!.. NO!
…
Oh, wait, Wes Anderson? …
Oh.
Yeah, he’d be a good pick. I’d actually like to see what he’d do with it.
-one of the Wilson brothers will be Venkman’s son trying to reconcile with Peter (tying into the usual character daddy issue subplots that are very popular with Anderson)
-most of the movie will consist of the new busters sitting around a tv watching it (of course the camera angle will be pointing at them, as if they are watching you instead of the tv).
-a musical orchestra consisting of 2 violins, 3 glass milk bottles and a set of metal spoons
