I just wanted to get a little idea of how you guys and gals out there consider what things to build first to last in a Ghostbuster costume. I have noticed that some people will buy their flightsuit first, throw their patches on with a belt and start taking pictures right away like they have tons of progress already. When I started my costume I figured that the first thing I would want to have completed was the proton pack, not the flighsuit. I figured that the LAST thing on the list .. like the icing on the cake was the flightsuit to be completed. I shun the thought of walking around on Halloween with just a flightsuit and a belt on.
So what do you think is the right way to sort out what to build first in a GB suit? Do you want your flightsuit right away to wear while you contruct your proton pack? or do you want to smile and look at your completed pack while your putting the final touches on your dyed suit to complete everything?
I got my flightsuit first, followed quickly by the other uniform items (patches, belt, pads, etc.)
For me, building a proton pack is a daunting task. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so I don’t even want to begin building a pack until I have the time (and funds) to do it right.
This is the importance list we give to our new team members since several of us have spares of certain items and we let them borrow them to see if they really enjoy being a buster before making the big investment:
Jumpsuit and boots
Belt and Elbow Pads(Gizmo, radio, and gloves completely optional)
I got my name patch, then my suit. I would have ordered the NO GHOST patch at the same time but GBFans shop didn’t have them in stock. Next is probably my belt. then my proton pack, and then finishing off the flightsuit.
I was given a flight suit so that kinda throws it off but I wanted to start with the uniform anyway. As much as I’m looking forward to building a pack I’ve got too many other things on my work bench at the moment to tackle it and I don’t want to lay out all the money at once. Add to that my main purpose in having the costume is wearing it at events then starting with the uniform is required. So far my aquisitions have gone like this:
Flight Suit
GB patch
Belt (pulled from another costume)
Boots
Name tag
Leg hose
Gloves
Key Rings
Lifealert
Motorola MT500
Hose Connector
Elbow Pads
Dye pads/belt
Next up is the belt circuit and getting a holster for the Motorola. Once that’s done I’ve got parts for KUD meter on the way and peices for a trap holster. After that my build sequence is looking like:
1.Trap
2.PKE
3.Pack
4.Giga Meter
5.Slime Blower
6.Globuscope
7…?
8.Profit!
I don’t see the pack as necessary for the costume. There are plenty of scenes in both movies where they don’t use them and often the logistics of where an event is makes the pack impractical.
