I wanted to see if there would be any interest in some unique vintage first gen “sample” Legris elbows I have access to. These are identical to the grey elbows, but made in transparent plastic by Legris to use as sales samples. They could easily be painted, and 1/8 work perfect with GBFans shop red tubing (going to get some grey spray and will post a pic tomorrow). Can try for $50 shipped for a full set of 3. PM or post if you’re interested. Thanks for looking!
Trying to see what the interest is (that’s why I didnt just flat out do a FS). I have seen other 1/8 elbows go closer to $100 recently and also tried searching through old threads here. I wasn’t sure what the clear factor would do, but I also sold a single steel 5/32" for $30. As for the paint, gonna do one today to show and could possibly offer these pre-painted as well.
I have to buy these and dont want to over pay myself. By the time you take off Paypal fees and shipping that $70 quickly becomes $60 (didn’t think $20 per elbow was crazy like the guy asking $600 for three 4mm’s). Generally when people sell things, its supply and demand… if the demand isn’t there at that price, I’m open to constructive suggestions on what their worth via PM. Don’t want this to turn into a copy/paste of basically every other Legris elbow thread out there, just trying to help some folks out with their packs
Ok, sounds reasonable enough, and thanks for chiming in Joe, good to hear from somebody who has used these in their build… Well, I guess I can say I’m interested pending paint results and possible price adjustment… I do like the clean look of the brass caps…
I’ve seen 1/8 Elbows go for around $100 ish in recent times.
These are Legris elbows although not correct without modification which is still rare.
Did something not happen with SMC elbows lately? Either they were changed or discontinued. If the substitute for Legris elbows are going to be harder to get, expect Legris elbows wither 4mm, 5/32 or these elbows to come with a bit of a premium.
Oh ok, im only bringing it up cause I found these exact elbows for $3 a piece roughly. Still cant figure out where the $70 is coming from especially being that $3 a piece price really hasnt changed in the past couple years
And others have found hat lights, banjos, straights cheap too… And all the parts suppliers sell their resin and aluminum parts at cost too? No they don’t. If you can read my previous post I think I made my logic clear. If you can supply these elbows in bulk for that price or provide info on where everyone can get them I would encourage you to do so. For now, if you’re not interested in the price I can ultimately supply them for, please just move along.
Fwiw here is a quick paint attempt. Would probably try for a shade lighter grey, but this is what I had on hand,
The rarity of the pieces (transparent tests) should be taken into account with Jay’s asking price. If a supply of vintage Legris Elbows (not the more common SMC pieces) is available for as low as $3 a piece, then there’d certainly be interest in learning more about that.
The price Jay is asking doesn’t seem that removed from what similar pieces have gone for on eBay, unfortunately this is the result of such a demanding market and the limited supply that’s still available out there.
The Legris/Clippard/Nycoil shop who found these for me had also seen 4mm prices and 5/32nd prices, so it took me a bit to lower those expectations as it is. Like Abaka and Kingpin said, I’ve seen 1/8th’s in the range of the original $70 a set I threw out there (or higher). I did tell him I wasn’t sure what to expect and there may not be interest. I don’t think I can get him down to $3 each, but am thinking I can go back to him with $50/set and see if I can take them off his hands.
Thanks… Didn’t seem to be much interest. If anyone else would be interested would try and see if these are still available. May be able to push it to $40 a set of 3 (unpainted). Would need probably at least 20 people though.
