is it hard.....

is it hard to make a particial thrower

Is it hard to read a little bit before making random posts?!?!

Sorry man… I’m pretty much kidding there! But seriously… there’s a reason that these boards don’t only show you what was posted today. There are a ton of threads to look at and alot of helpful advice. You just have to look for it. Building a proton pack is going to take alot of time and patience. If you don’t have enough time or patience to read through the forums… then you probably won’t be able to BUILD a good looking prop, and should probably buy one from somebody.

Like I said man… not trying to be mean, I’m just saying that most of the information you seek is there already. You just have to go find it!

Good luck and welcome to a very addictive hobby!!!

Yes

It really depends if you have ever tried one of these things before. It will take a while and possibly a couple times to get what you want. I am currently Doing my third and hopefully final one now and have learned how hard it is.

Best thing to do is probably to find someone who sells a resin kit. That way it’s mostly just gluing together and painting. There are some members on the boards who make every single part needed for the thrower… keep an eye out.

Yes. Its one of the pieces of the pack people mess up the most. Take your time, study a lot about it and try your hardest.

Well, it ain’t easy.

yea…guess you could say its gonna take some patience

I found the gun more difficult than the pack.

yes and no. if you want, you could cram out one that looks halfway decent in a day. a bit of warning though…one year later, you may find yourself questioning why you rushed and didn’t pay enough attention to detail, and starting it from scratch all over again (can you tell that I’m typing while looking at the unfinished thrower on the desk that I SHOULD be working on

Some parts are harder because you’ll be working on something that is a bit smaller than the parts on the initial pack. Just TAKE YOUR TIME, though, and have fun in the process. Think, and RETHINK possibilities of how to make certain parts work for you. I myself have gone through several mental changes of how wiring and the ability to maintain things in the future will work…where to drill, where to not drill, etc.

Exactly… exactly exactly exactly!!

Even though I’ve only got about… 30% ? … of the partts for my pack ready to put together (from scratch) I have to agree that personal judgement is the main factor in building this goddamn thing!!!

I’m putting my pack building on hold for a while, but so far ive already noted improvements on Norm/Stefans plans etc etc… things that seem SO obvious and far easier… and be damn sure that I’ll be finally documenting my progress with pictures etc

And as it has probably been stated above, it is only as hard as you make it. There are so many different plans here and you can take ideas from one plan & ideas from another plan and come up with a construction plan that works for you and your budget range. There really is not right and wrong way to do build things. It really breaks down to your imagination, and how much time you are willing to put into the project. I’m not going to lie, building a prop that looks just like the one in the movies with sounds and lights isn’t going to be cheap. You will need a good amount of money and loads of time. If you just want a simple pack minus all the fancy stuff, then prices will vary depending on the construction materials you are planning on using. Who knows, you may find a cheap way to put lights and sounds into your pack. And if you do, please share that knowledge with the community. All of us here are always looking for more ways to do things and possibly “cheaper” (for lack of a better phrase) than how we built our other stuff.
