So, I actually started this awhile ago, but abundant delays and other such shenanigans prevented it from being done until this morning.
The design is based on the original concept art for the Wii proton pack, though there are a few deviations and customizations. All in all, I’m pleased with the outcome, though I may revisit certain parts of it in the future. It’s downsized a bit, made for my 12 year old brother. He hasn’t seen it yet, but he’ll be home from school shortly
The pack frame is custom made from PVC and it has alot of the same lighting techniques as my movie style pack.
Over all it was fun. Next on my list of goods is to build is a toss up between an RGB pack and the new attatchments from the video game, so we’ll see.
PS
here’s the original wii design I based this on:
Goodwork jackmate. Custom packs are the bestest.
Muchos gracias dudes!
I just realized I’m missing a hose and a bumper, so look for those to be added soon!
You never cease to amaze me.
they released new pics for the wii pack and it has 4 cyclotron holes instead of 2 now… r you gonna update it or just keep it like that?
Yeah, it’s staying with the 2 lights. Like I said, it’s based on the original Wii design and I started this before they changed it back to the actual movie look of the packs, and to try and change it wouldn’t even be worth it. WAY too much of a difference. Besides, I actually like this design more for a cartoon style like the Wii. I think it’s kind of distracting from the asthetic of the game to have something so detailed on more animated based character designs, which are simplistic by nature. I saw that they switched the design back in like november and I was actually a little dissapointed that it had become more accurate, as weird as that sounds!
Plus, this being for for a younger person who is more prone to running and bumping into things, it’s a better design because of the lack of wires and stuff like the ion arm and other delicate parts which would be the first things to break when the aforementioned bumping occurs.
These kids today, they’re spoiled rotten, what with getting kick-ass custom packs given to them by their cooler older brothers.
Back in my day we had to build our own proton packs walking uphill, both ways, to the hardware store to get materials.
And don’t get me started on these new fangled power tools of yours. In my day you only had a hand saw to work with and you were grateful just to have that.
Ahem…excuse me…sorry about that. Pay no attention to the above. For some reason my jealousy at others’ awesome propping skills manifests itself as a cranky old man.
Seriously though, great pack.
Very cool, I’m gonna agree with you on the Wii styled look I was also upset that they changed it but at least we have artwork for it so we can build other styles
Is your brother left handed, or did you just put the gun on that side because of the artwork?
Damn man the games isn’t even out yet and you have a pack for it! Great Job!
