Well, where to begin? (begin mini backstory)
Sophomore at some high school you’ve never heard of. Since the fourth grade when our class watched Jurassic Park on VHS I fell in love with both that franchise and dinosaurs in general, collecting the toys and expanding my knowledge on the films, books, you name it. Short while I after that I joined the recently now-defunct Jurassic Park Legacy, what was the Internets largest Jurassic Park fan resource. Was a staff member on and off and stayed on until it’s final day (the first anniversary of Jurassic World). After that I help and now sorta-run it’s ‘successor’, Jurassic Park Portal. Doing pretty good in terms of activity on that part, but I do have to thank JPLegacy for teaching me the ways of the internet, both on how to behave, how to type and how to post (you should’ve seen my first posts, made me cringe so hard).
Recently on my 16th birthday I saw that they would be re-showing the original 1984 comedy classic, Ghostbusters at my local theater (in celebration of the then-unreleased Ghostbusters: Answer the Call). I had heard of and knew about Ghostbusters prior to this but never got around to watching or getting to know about, so I forked up the ticket admission and settled into a screening. It. Blew. My. Mind. I loved everything about it. From Venkman’s dry, sarcastic with to Egon’s scientific wit all the way up to the end credits, I enjoyed every second.
Soon I acquired DVD copies of both the original and the sequel (which I heard…not-so-good things of) Needless to say I did enjoy and love Ghostbusters II, but I rank the original higher. Initially I was not going to see Answer the Call (having shared the same ideals as some haters of it), but after a quick trip to see a friend I listened to the Fallout Boy cover and discovered I liked it, and began re-thinking my stance on it. If I liked the new theme, maybe I’ll like the movie?
Needless to say I was right. So far I have seen it three times (today being the latest) and dont plan on it being the last. Having found this place, I know I can make my home for my newfound love for Ghostbusters here. (end backstory)
