I was bored, and thinking about things, and I started to think of weird Ecto-ideas. (I’m still doing my Outback Ecto, boomer, don’t worry, lol.) and I thought about using a Fire Truck. I mean, they DO get sold.
The Ecto-Truck. Heh. You could use the old pumper in the back as a portable containment unit, or a storage chamber for “Good Slime”. Just change the lenses, spray the bad-boy white with some nice red highlights, slap some decals on that baby and maybe some other flashy stuff.
The Gas Tank storeage wouldn’t be bad as a Proton Pack/Slime blower storage, and it’s definately noticable. I’d suggest putting a LOT of Ghostbuster decals on it though, and perhaps a message saying it’s not a comissioned Fire truck.
This is actually a very cool idea. And instead of SCBA tanks in the seats (so firefighters can get them on easier) the proton packs can go there.
Also, a possible idea, (and something I have actually thought about doing before if I had the money minus the GB stuff) is in the tank/pumper area, remove all that equipment, and make it a small 2-3 person sleeping area. That would be real good for long trips.

nods There is a massive heavy equipment auction lot along I-25 on the way to Denver. They used to be located in Brighton and would gather tons and tons of bulldozers, trucks, lifters, everything piece of heavy equipment imaginable and auction it off once a year in the summer.
Since they moved next to I-25 they’ve been having auctions much more often. Whenever we take the ecto down to denver for a convention or hearse event or some weird thing going on, I always find myself eye-balling the lot because they’ll have a huge firetruck (there was a hook and ladder there, once) sitting on a podium.
More often than that I’ll see a flat-nose freightliner and… well…
As for the firetruck idea… yeah it’s cool. In the fictional element of a movie or fanfic storyline it would be cool to see (a la Evolution)… but for a personal ectomobile replica it still suffers the same drawbacks as non-caddy or non-wagon replicas: almost no one will get it.
So in response, if it were featured in a fanfilm or animation or in concept form… HELL YES a gadgeted-out firetruck would be cool as fuck. I mean, just look at the modded sewer-cleaning trucks from Men in Black… very cool.
But as an ACTUAL car you’d spend money to build… it wouldn’t be a well-recieved as something that reminds people of the original.
