My name is Steve Neill. Although I’m credited with sculpture on the show but it’s not really correct. I was lucky to get credit as many on the creature effects crew wrongly did not.
I was a sculpture yes but I also headed up the entire chair sequence, made the hands, puppeteered the hand that grabs Dana in the face. I was the lead directing puppeteer on the terror dog. Was in the terror dog for a shot. Built some of the mechanics for the facial articulation for Staypuff and more.
I’m so amazed at the popularity of the original film because at the time I’d didn’t ever think it would be as popular as it is.
We are having a 30th anniversary get together party for the effects crew at my studio in June. I will try to post some pictures. Many of the actors that were inside the creatures will also be here.

Keep in mind that most of us that worked on GB are fans ourselves who grew up on on Sci-Fi , fantasy and horror as a main diet. It’s what got us all into the industry. We all wanted to make the Frankenstein monster, we all read Famous Monsters of film Land.
We love this stuff! And some of us (myself included) have never stopped nor do we wish to retire. I’ll do this work until I drop! The inner child I’m so much in touch with demands it!

I gotta ask, do you know anyone who originally made the packs? We, uh… Have some questions… 
I’m sorry but I don’t. The creature department was at Boss Films and we worked on set with our gags. But I did see the packs plenty and in most cases the fan made props were better. My friend Ted Alexander made one and brought to my shop. It was incredible and as I told him it looked better than the originals. Props back then only had to look good enough for camera. Film hides a lot. But today with movies being made in HD they have to look real or it will show.
