After an attempt to build a pack out of wood and MDF became far too labor intensive and made a few build errors I decided to go with a Studio Creations shell. In this thread I will show the progress of the build.
Started by joining the two parts of the shell with rivets, bondo filling the seams then fiberglassing the interior. Will add some photos of the inside of the shell at a later date.
Then drilled and test mounted the beam line, injectors, filler tube and HGA
Then went on to build an N-Filter from PVC couplings.
Onto the Ion Arm
Drilled out the cyclotron holes and started test mounting some of the fittings:
Then mounted my amazing bumper from Wiz.
Added in the Clippard valve and rigged up a shock mount from washers and foam sheets. Also mounted the booster frame.
At that point everything was drilled and dry fitted so time to prime!
Then onto painting the shell and my MDF motherboard:
After letting that dry I mounted the cyclotron and power cell lens and fitted up the Crix light kit.
Aluminum DarthDono Labels and a sweet ribbon cable from EJGunth it was pretty well sorted:
Onto the thrower!!! (to be fair the thrower was done way before the pack…)
This is going to be my stunt thrower so the accuracy will be a bit lax as you will see
Added the trigger box and test fit some switches:
Painted up (I’ve redone the paint job twice since.. been rough on this thing)
Metallic paint on the resin thrower knobs:
And… here she is. No sound kit and only one switch is connected on the thrower to turn the pack lights on and off but it was wearable for halloween. Won me a $100 gift certificate in a costume contest.
And me in full regalia:
More to come as I add sound and build an aluminum thrower!
