I ordered an LC-1 frame about 2 months ago. Everything appeared to be right in the pictures. I went in to make the half moon spacer this previous weekend when something caught my eye: The center vertical bar looks like it is flipped. In other words, the rib running up the middle is bulged facing my back. WTF??? Has anyone ever run into this? This is quite embarrassing actually and I can’t figure out for the life of me why it is this way.
Also, the horizontal bar is flush with the frame and everything else looks right.
EDIT: I think what irritates me the most is that these things are marked as original and uncirculated. I wonder if these are rejects do to the flipped center vertical bar? I was wanting to go with a fairly accurate hero build for my first, and this has kind of put a snag in it. The original seller has not contacted me within the past 3 days :sigh:
That’s when I noticed the groove was backwards; when I went to grove out the half moon lol.
By the way, I figured you might like this: I’m using hockey pucks for all 3 spacers. I know that goes against the original thought of the half moon being made of wood, but you crazy Canadians talked me into it!
Jay, you wouldn’t by chance do me a favor would ya? Would you be willing to measure your full size frame? I wonder if I got a smaller one by chance?! If it is indeed, I guess I can put that one aside for the wife’s build.
USGI don’t mean anything except that it looks like a standard government issued item. Plenty of reproduced items are labeled USGI. Small differences or changes in a frame is usually a clear indicator that the frame is milspec, rather than government contract.
“THESE FRAMES ARE GOVERNMENT SURPLUS, AND WILL EXHIBIT SIGNS OF STORAGE WEAR. SLIGHT CHIPS IN THE PAINT, AND SCUFFING MAY BE EVIDENT FROM YEARS OF STORAGE. THESE ARE UNISSUED.”
I never said that. I’m just posting verbatim as it seems like the seller is posting a false product. Dan, if this screams mil-spec to you, you’re definitely one of the ones that I entrust. For that, I thank you. I do not have ANY intentions of angering you or anyone else on this forum. I just want to “bust” this guy.
this is my biggest fear right now, i too have been hunting ebay for a lc-1 setup. but fear im going to by a knock off because everything is listed lc-1/lc-2
i am also aware of the short frames too. i was curious if one has a source other than ebay to buy the correct frame?
This one did come from ebay. At the time, the seller was taking OBO. I sent in -$10 offer and they agreed. They have 9 more for sale, and I hope people see this post and link 2+2 as to who it is. Now I have to go home and measure the frame just to make sure it’s proper sized. What a nightmare over such a minuscule detail!
Good question. Our 2 local surpluses didn’t have the correct frames. I’ve been searching all over online.
Well, crap. I just checked my LC-1 frame and the bar is flipped as well. I got it from usamilitarysurplus on ebay. The biggest problem is that sellers use a stock photo most of the time. I guess you just have to ask really specific questions before buying online.
