Hello all. This seemed like the best place to put this. Not sure if I’ll get any support, but what hell.

I’ve had this idea for a while for a great crossover. Left 4 Dead Survivors as Ghostbusters. I have cosplayed Francis a few times before and after I bought my first flight suit last year the idea began to take shape in my head. My thought process is how would the survivors look if they happened to stumble across an abandoned franchise during their travels in the zombie waste land? A Proton gun can be just as effective against the undead as a flame thrower would be. Why wouldn’t they help themselves to some free supplies?

I’ll be developing this idea with at least one of my friends who has done a Rochelle cosplay before. Right now my basic layout for my Buster Francis will be:

Modified uniform:

Francis doesn’t do sleeves unless they are on a leather jacket. The GB2 dark grey suits will better fit Francis’ look so I’ll be getting one of those and cutting the sleeves off. Over that will be Francis’ trademark vest. Instead of the military boots I’ll be wearing my biker boots.

Belt: This will feature some of the GB gear such as:

-a PKE meter (Francis wouldn’t know what it does)

-Trap (The lights and sounds they make would get the attention of the hoard.)

-Pistol w/ thigh holster (This is a zombie appocolypse and guns are just as useful as a proton gun.)

-Health pack. (I found some instructions on how to make one online Rather than put it on my back I’ll be attaching it to the belt)

-Pill bottle (A necessity)

-Belt Gizmo (This is a maybe since I’m not sure that Francis would keep it on the belt when something else could go there. Plus I’ll be focusing on building other stuff.)

Weapons:

-Pack (I’m going to begin the process of building my first pack in the coming weeks. I’ll be following Norm’s plans as best I can, so we’ll see how that goes. It won’t have to be screen accurate since I’m sure the franchise they found may have made some small changes to the basic design.)

-Shotgun (I have a toy shot gun I got from Walmart that I use when cosplaying Francis. Although I still need to add a flashlight onto it.)

-Melee Weapon debating between an ax or a machete.

That’s what I’ve come up with so far. I scoured the web looking to see if anyone had done a cross over costume like this before and couldn’t find any trace of it. I really like the idea and plan to see it through to the end. I hope to have a version 1.0 ready by January for Ohayocon in Columbus. Any and all suggestions are welcome as is constructive criticism. I’ll be posting pictures as I make progress.

You wouldn’t need a pistol. At all. In the infestation comic they literally exploded a zombie with the proton packs.

Here’s another thing:

Nobody will get it

They’ll all look at you and question just what the hell you’re supposed to be. Are you fighting zombies or ghosts? If you’re fighting ghosts why do you need the gun, if you’re fighting zombies why do you need the proton pack (though I’ve just explained this, so…why would you need the gun?)

I’m sorry but this idea is just really…really dumb.

Thanks for your opinion. In this case we will have to agree to disagree. I still like the idea and am going to proceed with it. If others express an opinion similar to yours I will simply stop updating this thread. No harm. No foul.

It could also be like Garrett from EGB…assuming he slips on some ectoplasm and accidentally shoots himself in the spine.

AJ I wasn’t too sure if your comment was a compliment or not, given the way that show is looked at by most of the community.

To the other Gentleman: Well, thank you for the honest opinion. Also I couldn’t help but laugh at your joke.

I think I’ll just work on this privately and not update this thread with my progress.

I would be interested to see how this goes. Its true that people probably wont get it, but all the same it could be fun. When I wear my ghostbusters suit out people know what I am supposed to be, but I could wear the worst pack or the finest built and almost no one will have any idea. All the same keep it updated!

Thanks. I was thinking that too even if others don’t get it my friends and I will and they all seem to love the idea. To me dressing up isn’t about being recognized but about having fun putting the costume together and getting to wear it. As long as I’m having fun that’s all that matters.

Absolutely! for me its all about the build and the hunting to find parts.

A buddy of mine and I used to hit every walmart and fred meyer within 2 hours of us to get all of the released star wars figures. It was a blast, funny at the time I thought I was just all that concerned with getting all the figures, turned out it was just having a reason to make a 2 hour road trip to Seattle and the comradery, hitting new restaurants, and getting the hell out, that went with it.

i would be interested in seeing what you can come up with. it’s a rare build. everyone has the right to their own opinion and everyone has the right to share their ideas. i do understand on how some people might not get it because not everyone knows what left for dead is. not everyone is a gamer. but you and the others are right, as long as you are happy with with your build then thats all that matters. so bring on them pics. now i don’t know if you will like this idea or not but you could always change out the no-ghost logo to a no-zombie logo. that is if you plan on having some kind of no-ghost logo on the suit. i’m just thinking it’s such a rare build as in not just another ghostbuster suit build that it would be kinda neat if you could change up the logo abit. but like i said it’s just an idea. take it or leave it. but good luck on your build. looking forward to seeing the progress.

I’ll just slap on one more opinion then:

Zombies don’t need to be in every single friggin’ fandom.

It absolutely isn’t. Absolutely NOT a ‘rare’ build to shove ‘zombies’ into a fandom. It’s a lazy kickback to make something ‘interesting’. Completely over-used and over-done, it’s not rare at all.

I’ve actually been thinking about that very problem of what to do with the logo since the sleeves will be off the uniform. One idea I had was to have my tattoo sleeves include the logo in the appropriate spot on the right arm. I do like your idea a lot. I will have to look into something like that as an option. Thanks for the suggestion and the encouragement!

My two friends who I asked to be a part of this little endeavor are both interested, so we will be sitting down in the coming week to discuss our plans. I’m going to try and go to the fabric store tomorrow to get stuff to make health kits with. Provided my rusty sewing skills can perform to task. I might be able to have one made before the end of the week.

What you have here is a physical manifistation…like Stay Puft, only this one can change forms at will.
