Hey guys. I wanted to look some stuff up for my Florida GB suit. I figured because I always overheat when wearing my normal suits, I was wondering if there was an alternative that would work for hot weather, but still looked the part.
What have you been using?
I’ve got Nomex and Tru-Spec.
well the only thing lighter then a Tru-Spec is a new (as some old ones had the same poly blend as a Tru Spec) Rothco. They are now mostly cotton; you just have to fix the color.
I’ve never looked into a Rothco. Do they last?

Alright, cool. The color doesn’t matter, I’m going to do a custom color anyway with green pads, undershirt and belt- or something like that. I may even do short sleeve. Thanks for the help!
kind2311 will kill you if you buy a Rothco. He has a lot to say about uniforms, and nothing good to say about Rothco.

I believe there are nomexes that are for the summer. It says it on the tag. I’m not sure how much lighter they are then the normal ones but that’s another alternative you could look into.
True they do but I have no idea how light they are.
But also if he is gonna dye custom he can’t go with Nomex anyway.
Jay, as much as I hate to admit it . . . . i cannot tell a lie - you need a Rothco suit. they are cheap and thin and mostly made of cotton. Perfect for hot weather. Summerweight Nomex suits are thinner and therefore breathe a little better, but not by much, and like everyone knows, you cant dye nomex anyway.
they are sold at EVERY surplus store online, EVERY one. they usually run about $30. what color are you going to dye the suit?
I’m not sure. Originally I was gunna dye the suit green and have the pads, under shirt and belt be black. I was messing in photoshop with some color schemes and I kinda like a charcoal suit (a la GB2) with green pads, shirt and belt. Plus my orange logo looks good on a darker color. Here is some of what I did when messing around with colors. Funnily enough, I like the classic colors the best at the end, but short sleeve.
