Long-time fan getting back into the game

Greetings, everyone. Allow me to introduce myself…

My name is Jeffrey Wade and I am located in the western suburbs of Chicago. Among other things, I am an actor, artist, author, costumer and historical reenactor. Is that enough? Do I need to supply more detail? I have filled other online forums with photos and details of my various interests and exploits, but I presume you would be much more interested if I concentrated my remarks about Ghostbustercentric issues…

My long-time interest and informal studies into the paranormal (supernatural, unexplained phenomena, occult, etc.) rivals that of Dan Akroyd, with a personal library on the subject to match. That means that when I first sat through *Ghostbusters *in 1984, the movie resonated something within me unlike any before it. No previous movie had so well treated pseudoscience in such a realistic and honest manner – it was the movie that I would have wanted to make, had I the ability/resources/wherewithal to do so. I would love to gush here and now about my 1984 reaction to the attention given to detail, minutiae, terminology, etc., but I imaging that such a conversation would seem rather unimportant, or even quaint, 28 years later.

I raised my step-son on The Real Ghostbusters, which allowed me the justification to watch (and endlessly re-watch) all the episodes and collect all the toys – most of which I still have. The first Ghostbusters costume I made was in 1989, although it was for my four-year-old. The costume marked my first attempt at cross-stitching: I hand-embroidered a 3/4 size GB logo patch for my son’s costume, as well as a full-size patch for myself.

Yadda yadda yadda… Have I bored you yet?

Despite my passion about costuming and prop creation since the mid '70s, I never came back to make my long-anticipated Ghostbusters uniform – until now. In preparation for the strong Ghostbusters theme of this year’s **Cyphan **convention (27-29 July 2012 - http://www.cyphan.com), I have been dusting off my long-shelved plans and pulling out the half-assembled prop components so I don’t get shown up by people who weren’t even *born *in 1984.

I’ll come back and post photos…

P.S. – **A note to the Forum Administrators **– during the New Member Registration process, the anti-robot question requires you to accurately answer the question: “Who Ya Gonna Call?” It took me TWO tries, as the system does not accept the screen-accurate response “He-Man.” Really? How disappointing… but I guess you had to make a decision on this one.

Here’s a montage of 1989 photos of my son wearing the Ghostbusters costume I made for him –

Welcome to the forum, we’re glad to have you.

Here’s a shot of my newest outfit…

Another joke you probably didn’t have to make/explain.

Because.. “He-Man” is a valid response during the registration process.

I wasn’t making a joke, I was stating a fact. “He-Man” was not accepted.

I finally dug out my old license plates; thought I would share a photo –

Yeah, that was me advertising “I am a huge Ghostbusters fan” to every other driver on the road for more than ten years.
