Hi everyone, I am back. I recently ordered the light kit from the shop here at gbfans, and I am wondering how other foam\ wood packs run their wires for the lights? I know the lights PCB will be mounted inside the power cell, but how to I run the cyclotron and vent lights? Should I go on the backside of the motherboard and just cover it up with some black duct tape? Should I notch out a tunnel in the foam and lay in between the foam pieces and motherboard? I have searched and searched but I cant really find the information I am looking for. I am sure I could figure out a solution when the time came, but I would like to see what other people have done, that way there is less chance I run into an unforeseen roadblock down the road. Thanks everyone!
I hope to have a couple more pieces done this weekend and will update with some pics. :vinzclortho:
Got some more work done this weekend. I hope to have the main pieces done either this weekend or next, and then I can move on to sealing/ painting the pack and doing the detail work.
I am still not sure how to run the wiring for the lights however. Should I notch out a trench in the foam to run through?

I haven’t done a foam pack myself, but I imagine if the cyclotron was hollow you could put the boards in there, and then make trenches on the back side of the pack (where it sits against the motherboard) and run the wires in them. At least that’s how I would do it.
Yes, notch a tunnel. Very easy.
Cool, thanks guys. Feel better knowing I’ll be doing this the right way.
Making slow, but steady progress on the pack guys. I will post more pics soon.
I have a question: what is a simple way to light up the neutrona wand? I just want to have a bright white light that is controlled by a switch on the gun. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Well its done! With my wedding in MA next Saturday I NEEDED this thing boxed up and shipped ASAP, so when I woke up this morning I added some touch-up paint and the last sticker and done. I got to put it on for 5 minutes before it was bubble wrapped, boxed, and dropped off at the UPS store. I really hope it services the 3000 mile trip. So much work went into this pack, way more than I had expected, but I am totally happy with the results. After the wedding I hope to build the gun, distress the pack, and win my works Halloween costume contest. The $25 prize should help offset the nearly $200 price tag. Not to mention UPS charged me a staggering $106 to ship the thing…which was still cheaper that USPS believe it or not.

That looks great! Well done.
