Truthfully while Slimeblower Winston is movie accurate, I don’t plan on buying him cause he wouldn’t really ‘fit in’ with any of the other figures. HE’ll either have the GB2 logo while the other have the standard or he’ll have the tan jumpsuit while the GB2 figs have grey.
I think this is one case where it would smarter for them to skip being ‘film accurate’ but that’s just me.
I actually mentioned something similar to that in another figure thread. While yes, SB Winston and Ray would be accurate with the tan uniforms and GB 2 patches, Ultimately they would be half a set. Because what could you possibly do different to Venkman and Egon to make them GB 2 versions other than patches and maybe the giga meter for Spengs. I can’t justify buying GB 2 tan variants of Egon or Venkman if all they do is change the arm logo. I’m not shelling out 60 bucks for that. Admittedly, If TRU released another GB 2 4 pack with tan uniforms and slimeblowers, that would make more sense. But if Mattel releases Egon and Venkman individually with only an arm logo swap, I might just pass entirely on the slimeblower variants.
They won’t do it, but they could certainly have “justified” putting out grey slime blower Ray and Winston since they were on the movie poster. And like you said it would also fit the GB2 set Egon and Venkman better that way.
I’d have actually been tempted to try and get slime blower Winston (and the inevitably Ray later) if he matched the GB2 set.
Personally I just think the Slime Blower Winston is a cool figure, and I’m not really concerned about the set matching. There really wouldn’t be much point to putting out Egon and Venkman with nothing new but the arm patches.
I don’t mind if he’s the only character in that attire made. Maybe it’s just to balance Winston’s figure total since they are making Courtroom and Lab Coat versions of the others, and he’s not part of that.
Same with Marshmallow Mess Ray. If they don’t make marshmallow variants of anyone else I don’t really care.
I’m also just casually collecting the figures and not really concerned about completing dioramas or sets, though.
I would want more accessories at this point though. I know it’s a retro thing when they release He-man weapons packs and they said they didn’t want to do GB accessory packs… but still! Give me a pack of just ghosts. Give me barricades, dead ducks from a grateful chinese butcher, or a box of cheez-its. They do He-man figure stands that feature bits of Castle Greyskull, so why not stands that feature parts of New York or the firehouse?
