I wonder how many are going to call up who ordered them, originally, and request a refund difference :sigh:
i am calling back again on the 31st i am really ■■■■■■ about this if mattel wanted to give people a thank you it would of been nice to tell us that ordered the sub could of been told to wait till then to order would have been great but no they do not care about us gb fans at all
I just saw the post on the matty collector forums.. they are just giving these things away. no wonder they gave away so much in the mad matty sale for $40. matty is so shady, who knows if some of this stuff is even sold out either…
Yeah, I would agree that this sale has been misleading. In reference to Best Buy when ever I buy something and it goes on sale ( I think the time limit is 30 days) I always bring my receipt in and get the difference back. I just dropped $200.00 on 12 inch figures and you can bet I’ll be contacting them to get some of my money back.
I bought a car in 2006- within 1 month the car manufacturer had a deal on all their cars… The dealer has no idea of what deals another department is bringing down the pipe until they are informed.
Even if the dealer KNEW the deals where coming on a month- it’s not in their interest to tell the customer so now they lose out on their profit margin.
It’s been said many times, Mattel is a company in business to make money. Some seem to believe they are in the business of making toys because they like making people happy. I guess those people are part of the 99% who should be part of the “Occupy” movement. :lol:

I was going to get some of the guys, but I think I’ll wait. I already have all the ones that I *really *wanted, but at 60% off I might finally grab Courtroom Peter and RTYB Ray for their ghosts.
This sale (and these posts) finally got me to sign up for a Ghostbusters forums. Long story short, I’m a huge fan of the toys and have been for as long as I can remember. Anyway…
There is a big difference here. Best Buy doesn’t claim to have the only stock on something, and that “once it is sold out, it is sold out!” like MattyCollector has claimed. You can’t buy this stuff elsewhere, it’s ONLY through MattyCollector.
The fact that these were supposed to go out of stock was something that helped “lock in” their value for collectors, as if the only way to get them is to buy quickly or buy on the secondary market, there is a big bonus to buying from Matty right away. Now, with this sale, quite frankly it shows there really was absolutely no reason to purchase early. I bought two of every figure, and three of a couple of them. At a minimum, I could have saved probably $250 by waiting, but I didn’t (and was buying two of each) based on the belief directly from Matty that these were extremely limited.
Now that I know that they aren’t, I don’t plan on making purchases so quickly any more.
The one thing I fear – after they cancelled the 2012 memberships, is this the start of the end of the line? While it sucks what they are doing with the prices, if they are really just clearancing out their old stock because they are done with it, that’s really disappointing to me. I was hoping for more figures in the future. When it hits 60% off, I may have to pick up a few extras to take out of the packaging!
I emailed Matty CS and got $48.00 back so that’s great. I received the 12 inch figures and the likeness to the characters is amazing! I was moving on October 31 so I missed getting some more figures. I have to unpack my trap and test it out this week.
in regards to them discontinuing the line, i don’t think they will do that. I missed getting the PKE meter and click on the web page for it and it states, “This item is available for purchase on 12/1 with an approximate shipping date of 12/12”. So it looks like the line will continue. The Ghost trap sold out in only a couple days so I’m sure they will be coming out with even more collectible figures and props, perhaps a 1/12 ecto or a 1/1 proton pack
that description of the pke meter is from LAST YEAR. 12/1/10… not 12/1/11…
Anyone manage to get a price difference on the 60% off? I got one for the 40% off, but not 60% off. I’ve been getting generic form emails that are basically like. We won’t price match you. You can return the items. But we won’t be able to sell you any items… cause they’re out of stock. And even if we had them, we’d make you pay full price anyways. Lolz.
Same thing happened to me. I called on the 31st but was never contacted so I figured that was the source of the problem. After a week of daily emails refusing to drop the matter they gave me 40% off.
Not 60% off?
Or they gave you an additional 40% off on top of the 20% off.
I haven’t gotten and 60% off price matching yet, and our mid month order was on the 25th, less than a week before the special sale price change.
We actually asked them to cancel it within 24 hours of ordering and days before they even sent electronic shipping info, so we could do a different product assortment. But they didn’t bother to reply back for 5 days until after the electorin shipping info was sent. We could have just reordered had they done so before or even on Halloween for the extra discount.
I filed a BBB complaint not so much for the money, (its only like $15 difference) but for the shoddy handling of the matter. Its been sent to Matty, but they have not replied back on it yet.
We did end up just ordering the extra items we wanted on Halloween anyway so we got the 60% of on half of what we really wanted to order earlier in the month.
I kinda wish I’d ordered more of the 12" figures those for a set of12" custom peoplebusters.
It was the 40% off of the earlier sale. My figures ended up costing $12 a piece.
I figured if I had ordered the figures on the 31st I’d have ended up paying more in shipping so it was fair enough. As is all the figures shipped under the cost of the shipping for my Ghost trap, so they were $12 total. Hard to beat.

By the way they price matched me at 40% off not 60% off.
I’ve been fighting them for the 60% for the last three days.
They keep sending me a viariation of the same form letter.. over and over. They want to give me a refund. But won’t let me repurchase the items (which I could have done on the day they were 60% off…). They lack all kinds of logic.
It may have to do with how much merchandise you bought, I only got 3 figures.
I accepted the 40% off, but if they keep giving you trouble I’d try and contact Mattel directly. (this is what I had started to work on)

I would just file a BBB claim on them. I can understand lack of price protection for more than 30 days, but they already set precedent protecting people’s price with the 40% sale. There’s no good reason why it cannot be extended for the 60% off sale.
Especially in your case, you bought how much in matty traps at full undiscounted price just a few weeks before hand. You’ve proved you are a very good customer who they should want to keep.
