Has anyone ever made a proton pack almost entirely out of metal?
i’m fortunate that I know people who can work with materials like this, and he and I have decided to build a proton pack almost entirely out of machined aluminum.
What do y’all think? Good idea, bad idea?

I made my cyclotron spacer out of 12 gauge sheet metal, as well as my proton gun. I probably would do the spacer that way again, just because there is easier ways, that would be strang enough… But I might make the gun out of metal again, just because it’s super strong and the gun probably takes the most abuse.
I’m pretty sure I saw one in the proton pack galleries. probably pretty heavy tho.
I’m considering making the gun out of sheet metal mainly for strength, although if you’re going to be putting electronics in there’s a possible issue of heat transfer.
I’m wondering the best material to make the pack mainboard out of if putting in electronics…my main barriers are cost and workspace.

Hey, I remember that thing! I stripped the frame off it to build a lighter rgb pack from 18 or thinner gauge steel…well, by build I mean “in the works for halloween 2007.” :lol:
If you plan to do it out of metal, the thickest steel you’ll want to do is 18 gauge, otherwise it’ll be REALLY uncomfortable to wear (trust me on this.)
I know a guy on here or over on proptopia did one out of aluminum, but I can’t for the life of me remember who he was, but his made mine look farmered together.
I know Neophyl built a gun out of sheet aluminum. Don’t know if he’s on proptopia, though. I was able to find some posts of his regarding his sheet aluminum gun body, but unfortunately the pics were dead.
What were the real gun bodies made out of, anyway?
My friend Joseph made one out of metal. He goes by Futher on Proptopia. It’s a freaky sweet pack. The trap is the same deal and it’s nice too! You might be able to find pics doing a search on there.
