Michael Jackson R.I.P.

Gotta agree with Unicorn and Foos here. This guy definitely inspired me in taking whatever you do to the next level. I can’t describe how much the creativity he put into his videos has influenced me in my own art and film making. My favorites have always been Thriller (duh), and Speed Demon. I never got tired of watching them. His songs were undeniably catchy, and I can’t bring myself to believe any of the accusations thrust upon him. I remember listening to his songs on tape over and over again (especially the BAD album) as a kid when my dad and I would go into town in the morning on weekends to get groceries and the paper. My sister was an even bigger fan as a kid and we were both shocked as we were hanging out in her apartment yesterday eating lunch as they first reported his hospitalization, then his coma, and finally death. Shortly after, I had to drop her off at work at the tempe marketplace mall, where nearly every store was playing some song of his (in her’s, it was “Dirty Diana”). It was no different at the mall I worked at. Even the hoidy toidy jewelry store was playing “You Rock my World”. As a musician myself, I hope I have the opprotunity to jam with him on the big stage upstairs one day, and rock out while we make God’s foot tap.

The world has lost a true legend, but as The Sandlot and Final Crisis taught us, “Legends Never Die”.

Long live the King.

The man was a living legend. If you look through out history you will finds lots of Geniuses that are not all there by there physical appearence and there over all way of life but when it comes to their work its timeless, and dont ask me to tell you who that was the point “if you look” not me showing you, they are there just look for yourselves.

R.I.P MJ you will always be the king of pop.

I dread to think what he would have looked like in old age.

Screw you, even though he did all of those things, he still was a good person with troubles, so think twice before saying those things kind.

My question is…when will TV be normal again? I’m tired of seeing his face all over the news, internet and daily papers (it’s only been 24 hours now). I mean when will people realizing a celebrity’s death is not a national concern…I liked the song ‘Beat it’ though.

George W. Bush was a good, kind hearted person - but I doubt many of the people here would rush to his defense like they have for Michael Jackson.

Rose Tinted Glasses ftw.

It’s like all of a sudden there is something wrong with dancing on someones grave.

Who’s worse, Chris Benoit or Micheal Jackson! GO GO FLAME WAR.

Too Soon for both man :sigh:

Heres My take. Sadly with both the Scandels will outwat what they did and change the view of who they were. Rose Colored glasses Hardly.

Being a pro wrestler on the indies, Benoit’s Death hit close to home. Am I defending the man? By all means hell no, what he did was wrong and should burn in hell for it, I can NEVER Imagine doing the things he did to my family. Am I defending his career and what he did for the werstling industry?? You bet your ass and heres why…

Benoit as a performer opened many doors for smaller guys in the business. In an industry where you had to be a muscled up guy to get a top spot he quickly accelled to the top much tothe thanks of Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Curt Henning, Dean Malenko, Eddie Gurrero Chris Jericho Rey Mysterio. The Focus was on what they did best, WRESTLING. Don’t believe me? go watch an old tape from his days in WCW, turn the volume down you you do not hear the announcers and watch it unfold. Bret Hart Vs Benoit was an Amazing match. Any Eddie Gurrero vs Chris Jericho match. sadly though it all took a toll an him and made him unstable, the business he loved so much was his ultimate demise.

I had the privlage of Meeting Benoit after a Show and he was very plesant and a fun guy, you could tell the respect he had he worked hard to earn.

Unfortunately he will be mostly remembered for what he did, not the amazing career he led.

Look at elvis, the man was a massive depressive maniac who shot TV’s i nhotels when he saw something he didn’t like and apparently dies of a drug overdose while taking a massive dump on the toilet…

…But you still see people dressing up like Elvis where ever you go…

not Knocking on there music, I am a fan of them also but i ask the same to you, What About Aerosmith? What about Ted Nuget… Or do Nuge and Tyler not count because they were with underage girls and not boys?

Sadly, It’s not how your remembered, it’s what you did to be remembered by. He had great music and millions of fans and did something in this world that few other people have done. Yes his scandels are somethign that happened and will never go away, Im remaining neutral on that part, there are 3 sides to every story, their side, his side and the truth, sadly we will never know the truth, only the facts.

RIP Michael, I hope one day the recording that have yet to be released will be so that the legacy can live on

I honestly don’t care about what he did, nor his music. Not really a fan, so it doesn’t bother me either way.

What does get me is 1. our actions as a society whereby we always jump to glorify someone after their death and 2. how this is dominating the news, despite all that is going on right now.

its easy Ron, the media knows it will pull in raitings and do HUUUUUUGE numbers. that’s why they are downplaying everything else going on in the world and focusing on the event at hand. granted if he was still alove, fawcett would be played prolly more than mcmahon but no where near the capibillity of MJ. give it another week once the autopsy comes out and then everything will be back to normal

Oh, the world take their eye off of the bombs, and the bullets, and the rockets for a moment to remember the King of Crackle. I’ll bet he’s looking down on us right now, and he’s smiling warmly. Wait, no, he’s not looking down on us. He’s looking UP at us right now, and he’s screaming.

EEE HEEEE HEEE HEEE! UHHHHHH!!!

Meanwhile, Cap and Trade is pushed through Congress. Whenever someone asks me why their electric bill goes so high in the future I can blame MJ!

No no, It’s our own dam fault. :frowning:

ADD at it’s finest.

Yeah i think that is shit that the bill went through

also him dying hit the economy hard. his up coming tour was worth 60 million in revenues.

When we were younger, we were completely obsessed with everything that had to do with Michael. We bought the THRILLER album, the 11 1/2 inch doll, bubble gum cards, even entered a contest sponsored by Pepsi to win a chance to attend the Jacksons’ VICTORY tour.

Dig the crazed fan who doesn’t want to leave the stage!

I laughed a lot while reading this thread.

I was a huge fan of Michael Jackson, and I think a lot of you guys don’t understand the levels that he touched people with his muisc. (Insert joke about touching boys Jairus, Vince, Adam,… etc.)

He really changed and inspired a lot of people. You will never be able to escape it.. you will probably always see something that was inspired by or done by Michael Jackson.. until the day that you die.

I guess you never climed into bed with you parents when you were younger?

The charges were never brought up in a criminal trial.

You could be blamed just as easily. I don’t see a thread dedicated to the Cap and Trade bill here, but you have participated greatly in this Michael Jackson thread! So in a way.. I could blame the media coverage of Michael’s Death on you… because you are one of the people so interested in talking about it.

:walterpeck:

I can agree with that. But you know the news…whatever they can for a buck.

I never made any kiddy diddling jokes; I found the parallel between playing a zombie in his Thriller video and the fact that he’s now dead to be better joke material.

I may be tasteless, but I’m not lazy.
