Hey! Look what I just picked up the other day. This were found in a Spanish auction site similar to ebay. I think this is one of the rare Miniland figures, about 12 inches, the proton pack isn’t removable, it’s part of the figure. Also it has these Columbia pic. markings on both feet. The thing is I don’t think these were bootleg. I was born and raised in Spain but I had never seen these figures when I was a kid. I asked the guy who sold it to me but didn’t have any info on it. Let me know your thoughts guys!

the paint application looks pretty good compared to the Kenner line, obviously the face is a mess.

Have you guys looked really closely at the Kenner sculpt? It never resembled the cartoon depiction to me, either.

I have a Winston and he doesn’t have a pack, they were removable so I’m guessing this might be something different?

Wow! This figure is insanely rare! I have seen the other three but i’ve never seen Venkman. Some members on here didn’t even think it was ever even produced. That’s one hell of a sweet find you have there. If it isn’t the fourth Miniland figure, it may possibly be a painted prototype sample?

Hey Zack! Can you post some pics of your Winston so we can compare them? Does yours have any markings?

Yes, I really couldn’t believe it when I saw it! Plus I got it for like 45 bucks (29€) I know that nobody had seen a Peter before, I saw it on another post lol Being a Spanish figure I really doubt this is a prototype. I told the guy who sold it to me to give me a heads up if he got another one. We’d need to see if the rest of the boys have a removable pack or not. I hope we can learn more about these some day! Oh well :slight_smile:

gbmickey: Your Venkman has to be the Miniland doll. They’re the same scale, sculpting style, etc. and is too similar to not be. Now, the thing that really is surprising is the fact the pack is non-removable and painted. I’m thinking a few things are possible here. It could be that Miniland did a different run where the packs were non-removable. That would most likely be the case but there is another likely scenario. Miniland could have released each guy one at a time. Meaning the other three guys came out before Venkman. It’s possible that the dolls didn’t sell well or Miniland didn’t have enough money to do it right. So by the time they got to Venkman, corners had to be cut and they simply got rid of the removable pack feature. They may have also had to do a smaller run of him which would explain why he’s way harder to find. Third possible and most awesome scenario would be that Venkman truly was never released and you’ve got the sample pictured on the back of the box. Either that or one of the few mock-ups the company may have done. We may never know for sure. Regardless, your Venkman is the rarest of them all.

You know what I just noticed? In all of the packaged samples, we see that the packs are in fact removable and they are NOT painted. Now, take a look at the picture of the four guys on back of the box. They all have painted packs and in the same colors nonetheless. It’s VERY possible that you have a painted prototype mockup. I think that would be confirmed once someone out there finds a Venkman in package with a removable pack and its not painted.

They’re not terribly hard to find.

AJ, have you ever come across another Venkman before? The picture on the back has Ray, Egon and Peter with painted packs, where the packaging sample of Winston has his pack unpainted and at the top. All signs of prototypes and packaging samples.

Yeah, also mine has a different paint job on the key fob and gizmo thing. AJ, are you sure you got the other miniland on ebay Spain? Was it so long ago? Man I’ve never seen one on ebay. I got mine on todocoleccion.net

What about the markings? Do yours have markings on their feet too? I still can’t believe I hadn’t seen these when I was a kid since I had a whole lot of GB stuff. If I ever get any of the other three guys or any info about these I’ll give you guys a heads up. Oh, I almost forget, you see those lil figures on the back of the box? Those are pencil toppers, I have some of them too. I’ll take some pics for you to see.

Just read what it says on the back of the box… Apparently the 12" figures where prizes you got when you completed the puzzles that came in those sticker packs that you can see in the picture. Again I had never seen any of those puzzles. Wow.

Just sent an email to Miniland Spain to see if they can tell us anything about these. We need to get to the bottom of this lol

Desafortunadamente no tenemos estas piezas ya que se fabricaron hace muchos años y no tenemos ningún stock.

En todo caso creo que tengo 6 figuras de los 4 cazafantasmas, el logotipo que es un fantasma blanco y otro fantasma verde en figura de PVC. Si lo localizara ya se lo hago saber aunque si me quedara una única muestra, tampoco querría deshacerme de ella.

Basically it says that since these were made so long ago they do not have any figure left in stock ( that we kinda figured lol)

They say they believe they have 6 figures of the four guys, the logo ghost, and a green ghost (that should be Slimer)

The guy who answered my email, told me he would get in touch with me if he could find the figures and also that he wouldn’t like to sell the set if it is the last one they have. So I’m assuming he’s willing to sell them if they have more than one set?

I answered back and asked him a whole lot of questions about these and also told him we would love to see any pictures they can get.

I’ll keep you guys posted.

Hey guys, I got another one of these bad boys. Here’s some pics. Also managed to gather more info. Looks like there were these Ghostbusters packs you bought (never got to see one of em when I was a kid though). In each pack there was a Ghostbusters rubber figure (I also have a few of those too) a piece of a jigsaw puzzle and an animal rubber figure. When you completed the puzzle you could exchange it for one of the big figures. The 13" figures were not for sale.
