Modern take on the Ghost Trap

There wasn’t much I felt I had to modernize about the trap, its efficient, well built, the only problem is the pedal. So the pedal is being moved to a button on the thrower to be triggered by wireless. The rear box will have a wireless logo, and a ghostbuster themed radioactive logo

I would still op for a handle. It is often shown smoking in the movies and the cartoon, so metathinking it tells me that there is perhaps some heat involved.

Plus the handle could be used to hide a wireless antennae.

But why put the V hook on the side?

Great concept though.

Couldn’t think of anyplace else to put the belt latch, and that was the latch I saw on it in other pictures

Okay, I have always seen the V hook on the bottom in the past. I was only curious to know if you had a new way to carry it.

I’m about to redo that trap design abit anyway, there are things about it bugging me, like the drop factor for deploment, i have to figure out how to negate damage, and ensure it bounces properly so it lands right so you’re not fidgeting with it with your foot trying to get it into position when your alone.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Well, there are some details that need changed, for example, TVG’s doesn’t use the pedal anymore, it uses a PKE Sensor, but its not as strong apparently, as you have to maintain capture stream until you get it in the box, hense being able to slam trap. This does however present an interesting concept, if I put a laser in the barrel of the neutrona gun, I can have a photoelectric sensor that triggers when hit with a laser, that would trigger the lights and sounds of the trapping sequence. Handle could be placed on the back…and the trap is just a basic box shape, maybe some wheels.

Or it was cheaper in animation costs to leave the pedal out.

Either way it makes sense, Best in case you wind up seperated to be able to zap, cap and trap with 1 person.

If you put a pes on the back of a trap, that implies you would have to hit the trap first, then stream the entity. That alone takes up valuable time, especially if you’re alone. With the pedal, which actually is in the video game, you have full control over the situation regardless of how many people you’re with; like ego in the gb1 montage doing a solo bust.

True, point taken, though I am still putting the trap trigger on the gun itself, putting it on the pedal diverts attention unnecessarily, and with wireless tech nowdays the wire isn’t required.

A lot of people constantly try to redesign or improve on this stuff. I’ve worked with this type of heavy use utility equipment before. Who ever originally designed it knew what they were doing. Hell the military has test equipment still in calibrated use that’s older than my parents, hell I used to use equipment that was older than me. For the purpose of this fictional use, the trap is damn well designed. It’s mobile, easy to control, sturdy, and reusable. If they would have improved on anything, it would have been the maintenance aspect. Better battery for increased capture field strength to slam them home, better heat dissipation and venting, maybe a better designed pedal…

After review of the information what i’m probably going to do is make a basic trap, and insert a wireless trigger on it, the trap itself is one of the best pieces of equipment and most polished they had.

I agree with you on most everything you said Wharin (Though I don’t consider military tech to be the best reference) I am, however, eliminating that pedal. I feel that in a modern setting that would be unnecesary. As I said in my intro, the stuff I’m going for is a more modern take on them, so far I’ve gotten good reviews on my pack and PKE, but you are indeed correct, the trap is one of their best, most polished inventions. So other then eliminating the pedal, there isn’t a whole lot you could do to improve on it. On to the Ectogoggles!

If you want to have stuff that looks different from the movie then that’s entirely up to you. I don’t really care for customizing stuff from the movie because while it looks recognizable in comparison to the original it’s still not the original itself.

If you’re getting good reviews on your stuff that should only matter to you, not to be used as a pivot to justifying why you’re re-designing everything. Honestly it just seems like more unnecessary work to me… I spent enough time building my own props to then go back and George Lucas the whole lot.
