I’ve always wondered if GB3 would ever finally be filmed, would we see a traditional story-filled flow like GB1-GB2 style? Or will we see a “Ghostbusters the Video Game” or RGB style flow of action and actual ghost busting??
The two films of course stays close to our hearts… but how would you feel if the next GB movie for whatever it may be, have more of an action grip on more busing scenes??
The two films combined only technically feature a number of busting scenes to count on one hand. what about a film that was a none stop roller coaster ride of ghosts??
I’d personally would love a mixture of the two. Maybe a deep heavy story in the 1st half of the film, then a fast pace thrill ride the 2nd… I was first introduced into GB actually by Ghostbusters Extreme in the 90’s. Than came my obsession of the films after. So I’d expect to have a different opinion.. but what would you think be a nice pace of a GB3 film?
I’d like to see a movie where Seth Rogen and James Franco smoke a bunch of weed and then see Slimer and try to catch him in a bucket. It takes a place in a haunted house.
If we don’t care about the characters and their struggle, strapping on the packs won’t mean anything.
It’s important to remember that with the original “Ghostbusters,” the emphasis was never actually on action-packed, high-adrenaline busts. These guys are not action heroes. Heck, the Grey Lady only had to scream at them ONCE to send them running. Their packs are heavy, their equipment is cumbersome, their tactics are questionable, their judgement isn’t the best, and they are commonly in over their heads. THAT is what makes it so great when they save the day. That these ordinary dudes overcame adversity and rose to the challenge of saving the world is the great victory that we celebrate at the end.
So no, I don’t think “non-stop roller coaster ride of ghosts” is a good idea. It’s a lowest-common-denominator thing, and it misses the point of what makes these films appealing in the first place.
And dont forget to let michael bay direct it . And meghan fox as janine and they destroy half of new york in the process… just kidding. i would love to see a good story over the action
I think he’s only cast her twice, in “Transformers” and “Ninja Turtles”… and the Ninja Turtles thing actually happened AFTER she publically called him a Nazi, inspiring three of his regular crew friends to hijack his website with stories about how needlessly mean she is on set.
There’s an icky story, unconfirmed, that says that Micheal Bay told Megan Fox he’d cast her in his next film (which was “Transformers”) IF she’d come to his house, put on a bikini and wash his car. We don’t have any proof of this besides her word, but if this story were true, it would not surprise me.
My bad on such an assumption then, and I shouldn’t have made it since I have seen other films of his, namely Independence day and Armageddon, both of thich I actually enjoyed.
Independence Day was Roland Emmerich, not Micheal Bay. It’s the movie we can thank for making Will Smith an action star!
Keep in mind, at the time, Megan Fox was totally unknown and broke. My sister is an actress, and I’ve done some acting, and if someone like him approached me with a multi-million dollar big budget summer blockbuster feature film deal and all they want is a car washed, and I know they are serious and the paperwork’s all ready to go and everything?.. Would I have felt crappy, used, dirty, exploited? YES. Would I have DONE IT? … probably.
There’s good stories about Micheal Bay out there as well. Like the affection and loyalty he seems to inspire in his crew. He’s worked with a lot of the same people since his days making commercials and music videos in the 90s, and gone to great lengths to keep his team together, even taking pay cuts and refusing to film overseas so that he can keep working with his regular guys.
One of the stories that got shared on his website happened when they were filming in Egypt, and everyone showed up for their call, and discovered that due to some permit problems they actually couldn’t shoot that day. So, instead, Bay arranged for the cast and crew to go see the Pyramids at Giza. The crew was thrilled, because, ya know, it’s the pyramids and they are awesome, but Megan was outraged, saying “I can’t believe he’s making us go see the (effin’) Pyramids!” and went back to her hotel room to sulk.
So the girl definitely has issues. That Bay replaced her in the next Transformers movie was expected, but then he cast her in Ninja Turtles, so he may be a pig, but he’s not a pig who holds a grudge.
I agree it should be not unlike an episode of RGB. Doesn’t have to be apocalyptic, just a three act story with a set up, multiple busts and a good climax keeping things open for more.
I personally think that after waiting so long to do this movie, it probably should be an apocalyptic story. If it was a basic zap and trap, the old guys could just deal with it. I’m pretty sure that the story that they come up with will raise the stakes. That seems to be the tradition with sequels. The Real Ghostbusters is wonderful for showcasing some of the lower level spirits, but I believe that the films should remain epic in scale, otherwise what’s the point of saving the day? The threat should remain big, I think it makes for a much more interesting plot for a feature film.
MANY MANY People are going to disagree with me and That’s cool, But hear me out..
I’d be happy with just a little more busting But not over the top. Maybe 4 or 5 scenes including a classic GB style montage of calls… If this movie is going to tell the story on how a new team is taking over as replacements and continue the franchise, I think we need a little more than just a Sedwick scene and a montage to pop their cherry… it should be multiple scenes showing them getting better as they go and maybe learning the benefits of team work. If it’s just one scene and a montage like the original films have in their formula, I’ll honestly be bummed out I think…
Plus I think if a new film does happen it’s a given it’ll have more busting than the originals. Only due to the marketing factor, I do think they will use the GB2 idea bringing in more to please a children audience and such. Selling toys, food, costumes, and video games is a given. But doing it right this time by making up for it in the humor. There is a fine blend of excitement for children and adult humor that is brought to films today and the number one who’s mastered it perfectly in my opinion is of course the typical choice, Marvel Studios
Picture a scene of our team getting absolutely slimed from head to toe by some type of incident… kids would love it. Then add the one liners after a pause of awkward silence.. then it’s use adults turn for a chuckle.
Think of scenes from Marvel like the “performance issues” scene in the Avengers. The “you guys are fondo-ing?” From Captain America. Look at the trailer for Guardians Of The Galaxy. It’s the rhythm and flow just like that which I think can do really great in a GB film… honestly when I first saw those films it left a Ghostbusters taste in my mouth from the humor.
I’m not saying it should have buildings tumbling over and explosions and the epic power of Micheal Bay… hell even the video game I thought was sort of over done in some cases. But just the excitement value of catching ghosts. Scenes like the Sedwick Hotel and the Court Room scene to me are just golden and I wish we had at lest twice more of them honestly.
Plus I kind of wish the Super Slammer made it to the big screen honestly… that’d be a killer scene in the middle of Times Square.
