mounting Jupiter thrower lights?

I’m having Jupiter put together a custom light kit for me so it includes the missing two lights.

My kit will have:

-Red light on slo-blo

-White light next to vent

-Orange light next to vent

-Vent light

-White light next to Clippard valve

-Orange light on gun tip

I am also told the lights now come standard with the DPDT switches to coordinate with a sound kit.

There’s not an orange light next to the vent light. It’s just a hat light cap. And it’s only orange on the hero thrower.

Since there were variations in the screen-used packs, I am going for a personalized look. I have seen some packs have either a red or orange light next to the vent.

The large flat light cover is usually white and sometimes the smaller light is white or red or orange.

I’ve seen a few replica packs with different designs here and they all look really great and prop-appropriate.

I will cross that bridge hopefully soon as I am waiting for a reply from Jupiter…

Exoray’s kit certainly assigned a red LED to the rear of the two lights on the top of the Proton Gun, combining the best of the “hero” prop and the “background” props.

Here’s some observations of the gun lights from Ghostbusters:

The following setup is seen during the majority of the film, the most detailed observation being from the Sedgewick scenes:

Slowblo/rear instrument bar: lit, static. (Sedgewick Hotel bust)

Vent: lit (very bright), static. (Sedgewick Hotel bust)

Bargraph: Fully lit, static. (Sedgewick Hotel bust)

Forward top indicator light: lit, flashes steadily on and off. (Sedgewick Hotel bust)

Rear top indicator light: unlit. (Sedgewick Hotel bust)

White hatlight: unlit. (Sedgewick Hotel bust)

Orange hatlight: lit when proton stream is fired (and afterward as the Ghostbusters investigate the full Trap). (Sedgewick Hotel bust)

Barrel light: Random white flasher. (Sedgewick Hotel bust)

Switch note: Suggested in the Sedgewick scene and finalised during the Gozer bust, the lower DPDT switch activates the vent light. The upper switch on the Gozer battle Hero Pack is also activated, potentially supplying the power to either the hat light or the bargraph.

The following setup is only seen once, on the hero pack seen only during the battle with Gozer:

Slowblo/rear instrument bar: lit, static.

Vent: lit (bright), static.

Bargraph: Fully lit, scolls up and down.

Forward top indicator light: unlit.

Rear top indicator light: unlit (features sunken orange hatlight).

White hatlight: lit, but very dim.

Orange hatlight: unknown.

Barrel light: unknown.

Although it forgoes the front white hatlight, Jupiter’s kit is pretty accurate to the light setup seen through most of the film, and obviously gives the added bonus of an animated bargraph (just make sure to request a static vent light). As far as I can find through the shots in the film, the rear indicator light on the Proton Gun is never illuminated.

does anybody have an alternative for the jupiter light for the firing mode light, its a bit dull. I wired up an assembly I ripped out of a flashlight but its still dull. Ive seen some on youtube that are like red spotlights .

I picked up a clear bright white 10mm led from radioshack.

I’m in the process of rigging up the switches, lights and stuff myself. I have a tiny, what looks like a 1/4 inch bolt, that fits sweet inside of a premade screw hole Jupiter has put on the light board (the one with the yellow rising light). Now…I’m considering drilling it right to the resin side of the Throwing chicken 3.0 gun body I have…things are looking sweet…but I’m just worried for the frailty of the resin, and my light kit bouncing around inside and stuff. I want to do the best mounting method possible. Gluing doesn’t seem good, because if you have a wiring issue, or need to alter something with the kit…it’s glued. Plus, it seems the light bar is larger than the actual hole for it in the TC gun body. Maybe its just me…who knows. After I mount that, I’ll start sticking the lights where they belong…

So what would be the easiest, and least tedious method of mounting this light kit to a TC 3.0 body without killing it?

For mounting the Jupiter thrower lights on my TC v.3 i used a self tapper screw. It was a real pain to get it in but now I can take the board out if need be. I also had to spin it around as I was un-able to fit it in the same way as my other thrower.

I also thought about the bolt method but didnt want to drill through the nice heat sink.

That was pretty much the way I was thinking, Self Tapper… Do you got any pictures of the inside of your thrower off chance? I’m just staring at this thing…like WTF am I going to do. Also, since we have the same things here…and while I’m thinking about it…how in the world did you run your wires to the proper points in the gun body? I can take the LED lights off of their mount, but that push button…I’m just lost. I am thinking there is going to be a bit of dis assembly going on here…but 90% of the lights are glued and mounted on the wire end… How do you take apart the push button, so it can be ran through some smaller holes? I’d rather not enlarge all the holes… This just blows my mind…I dunno. Maybe overthinking it. I’ll run the lights, then stick in a self tap screw. How small of one did you use? I got a bunch…I assume the smallest one you can find?
