Ok, so I’m in the process of building multiple proton packs, and halfway through decided to take pictures.
These fiberglass shells are easier to work with than the plywood and aluminum baking pans I used for my first proton pack build when I was 12…
( The pack I built when I was 11-12 )
I’ve used it for years and built others in the meantime. I robbed the bumper off my original build to use on every one of my personal packs I have built since then, and it’s going on my latest personal pack as well. The electronics in my first pack were homemade.
These two are regular hero packs with genuine Clippards, vintage Dale resistors, correct elbows and fittings, genuine Raytheon crank knobs and vintage Alice pack frames…
The power cell, ion arm, PPD, HGA and vacuum line are all aluminum. I purposely used a PVC booster tube to cut down on weight. The goal of these builds was to end up with packs that we can switch between GB1 and GB2 by replacing the ribbon cable, ion arm fittings, and crank knobs.
For these two builds I’m going with Throwing Chicken’s resin particle thrower kits slightly modified with aluminum components like the heat sinks.
I was lucky to obtain enough real Dale resistors to build several packs.
More pictures and updates to come as I make progress…
My goal for next year is to build a screen accurate Harold Ramis
(Egon Spengler) GB1 Hero pack with aluminum thrower. (which will be a slow build, probably will take a year or more)
