My first proton pack build!

Really? Huh. Come to think of it, the satin black I used came out pretty glossy on the wooden part of my spacer, too. Guess it depends on what material you’re using it on.

Could just be the pics, but the cyclotron looks crooked… Looks like it needs to be rotated counterclockwise slightly… Otherwise looking very good for a scratch build pack… Looking forward to seeing the end results…

thanks. I just ordered a bunch of misc. parts for the parts i have done

Just recieved the parts I ordered from the Shop. Including the ladder guard. However it doesnt look right. Maybe you guys can look please and let me know?

Well after measuring this part its actually 6 inches tall. And after reading all of the plans on the equipment link I need to to trim off 1/4 inch from the bottom. the Ion arm is also too big :(. I have to make a new one. That explains why it wasnt fitting right.

Does this look like its gonna sit too high on my back?

Also what do you think so far?

Looks a little high but nothing I would really worry about and I myself think it’s looking great so far…

about how much should I drop it down?

I myself would just leave it alone… Its so close it wouldn’t even matter

Looking great so far.

Nice work! The brass coloured rod pointing down from your ion cap is far too long though.

From the looks how much would you cut off?

The rod should be 4.1" long.

So here is all I have done so far. We have Followed Norm’s instructions to the letter but for some reason the measurements are still off. For example i cant even make the power supply box. when ever I try it doesn’t fit! The parts that go down into the “valley” I like to call it, measure too big! I need help here please!

Im about to give up here.

No suggestions?

Measure twice.. cut once. But really it looks pretty good so far. It appears like you can fit the filler tubes just fine. What else goes in the “valley”? Hole for the ribbon cable?

its actually some sort of plate that sits about 2 inches high to make it look like its got electronics for the ribbon cable. its hard to describe

I gave up. This was my third attempt at building this and it never seems to come out right so I tossed it. I think the only way I can do a pack is to make one using pre-made parts (resin, shell, etc.) And I cant afford that so my Ghostbusters Costume has come to an end.

Man, don’t give up! thats really sad to see so much work go to waist. For a budget pack I think it was looking very good and I’m sure it was fixable.

Is there anyway you can untoss it? as I be happy to help you out somehow. Even if I was to get you to take alot of measurements for me and I could try and work out in photoshop or maya what you need to do to make this work?

You might hav to live with som masurements not being completly accurate, but it will still look like a very recognizable proton pack!

Don’t ever give up on having your proton pack…even if you come up against a wall. Even if you had to rejig somethings there would still be alot you could salvage from what you have made already!

Julz~

Would this be the first part to your gb costume or do you have a flight suit ready? the proton pack is not the start or end of a gb costume. Getting some nice coveralls with a name and patch looks great by itself. Then build from there. If you already have a flight suit ready then you have a perfectly fine GB outfit. Hell you can take a jacket you have throw on an arm patch and there you go!
