My first uniform.

This will be as far as I go with the Lifegard 2

This is really cool, I like the black uniform with the white belt.

Great work.

Thanks! I do too. I plan to get a proper khaki colored one soon. Once I have that uniform done I’ll repost pics.

Ordered a LARGE tru-spec khaki uniform from GBFANS when the shop opened. I measured about a 43-44 inch chest. I’m told I have broad shoulders. I’ll try it on then give it a hot wash as you suggested.

Speaking of washing. In general when you wash your jumpsuits do you bother taking off the patches? I sewed mine directly onto the fabric since the pre-sown Velcro name block was too small.

I wash and dry mine with the patches and leg hose connector still on. I washed my TruSpec in hot wash (as Phil stated), the first wash, when I first got it and without patches. I now turn the suit inside-out when I wash and dry it. Depending on the patches you have, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend drying them on high setting. Just my opinion.

In general, I turn the suit inside out and throw it in the wash with the rest of my laundry… I even leave the Nick-a-tron rubber hose connector on! I’ve washed it possibly about 10 times now after all the events and cons, so far so good… LOL!

What did you use to clip the matty wand to your belt fob? Looking awesome btw!

Riggs45, I used a picture frame hook. Was able to screw it onto the Matty using one of its real screws. I liked it better because it felt more secure than a S hook.

Perfect! Thats what I figured it was but wanted to make sure. Sold, thats what I’m going to do as well then. Do you have a close up of where it is located? I like how it sits when hanging (I really had to think that one out before typing it.. I almost walking right into a “thats what she said”)

Riggs45, sorry for the delay man. Here ya go!

You are awesome! Thank you so much my friend!

Major updates!

So with the pack finally finished I wanted to turn my focus back into my uniform.

My first flight suit is a Rothco, Large, in black. Not a great flight suit but not a bad start. Overall I feel I got the basic look but as the months passed I knew I wanted to get a more accurate suit.

So from the gbfans store I bought a Large suit but I found it to be a bit too big and baggy for me. I have a medium on the way.

From eBay I bought two of jackdoud’ resin leg hoses and painted them satin grey.

At first I superglued the plastic hose directly into hose but quickly regretted that. So flipping through threads I found a MagSafe connector tutorial and used that to make my own using a 3/8 inch dowel rod and magnets.

All that is left is to sew them onto the suit.

A while back I bought some old, used, vintage army boots that looked very close to the ones in GB1

But the soles were very worn down and even squeezed with every step I took. I brought them to my local cobbler who put new soles on the bottom

After:

Lovin the boots! I really like the new sole too. Seems a little more functional.

New Tru-Spec flight suit came today and it fits perfectly! My last one, a Large, was way too big and I bought this for a closer fit.

I already have my patches ready to go on after te suit has a wash and dry.

Nice Stuff! Wish I had the skills to build a pack myself. May need to outsource it to someone for a commission. I’ve done a bunch of research on Flightsuits themselves.. if you are gonna go for accuracy.. it’s either the expensive Flightsuits LTD/Gibson&Barnes custom made suits or the CWU 7/P Coveralls.

(The difference between these are the CWU 7/P’s don’t have side entry zippers, but on the Custom G&B Suits you can get them.) I know you just brought Tru Spec’s.. Maybe you want to think about getting those ones if you decide to go screen accurate.

I look forward to your finished suit!

I said the same thing myself when I began this build but I was dedicated on completing the project no matter what. I gained a lot of useful experience mostly from trial and error, but looking at the results of the pack I feel very proud of what I accomplished. If I had to lend any advice it would be go for it, you might surprise yourself with what you can do.

For me that flight suit came down to cost and affordability. For the moment it’s all I was willing to swing for a suit, but wouldn’t mind getting a screen accurate one for my second. I still need a grey one! HAHA

The thing is.. I don’t have the tools or the space to actually do it. As for the Flightsuits, you can easily snag a CWU for $20 or sometimes even cheaper on ebay. That’s what I did for mine! It looks dead-on screen accurate except for the non-brass zippers, and the side entry zippers.

Positioned name badge. I like it. image

I like it too! Good job man. Cant wait to see the whole deal!
