My new Gizmo Holster Build

Well I wanted to redo my holster and I wanted to do it right. So here is my progress.

Here you can see I am using a piece of veg-tan leather and have beveled the edges so I get a nice smooth rounded edge.

Here you can see that I have burnished the edges making them smooth using a gum trach.

And here you can see how I have placed it in my wooden mold. This will give me prefect edges and hold the shape better. Snug as a bug in rug!

More photos to come when it finishes drying.

Here is a close up of the edge, now I will let the leather fully dry.

Man,

You look like you really know what you are doing.

Good luck!

And here is the front section all done, just letting the dye, sheen, and conditioner dry..

Very nice! Both clean and even (much better than what was used in the films).

Very nice! I’ll be keeping an eye on this one

I’m just curious, why did you decide to dye the leather yourself? I’ve bought a few leather products from sellers who dye their own and the dye always rubs off on my uniform. Is it a lot more expensive to get factory dyed leather?

If the dye rubs off on someones clothes then its because they didn’t apply the dye right and seal it right. It also has alot to do with the type of dye you are using. water based dyes (eco flo dyes) are the worse to use. Alcohol, spirit based, mineral dyes are ok sometimes, the best stuff to use is pro-oil dye. seal it correctly and it will never rub off.

Are you planning a run of these down the line or is it just for yourself? Our group is in the middle of building new gizmos so we may be interested.

Here is my first finished one.. I might use a once thicker leather if I do any for anyone else..

Yes I can make more for anyone who needs one. I could probably do them for around $25.00 Shipped. But I would have to see how much interest there is.

Oh wow! That looks so good! If i didnt just order one from another member here id totally place an order.

:crunch:

With some pointers from some members I am redoing it with the curve on the front section.
