Oh and the pack looks amazing. Nice and weathered. You’re missing one little detail though. The colored hoses aren’t dirty at all!
Thanks for the compliments guys i really appreciate it. The spray paint i used is actually just called SPRAY PAINT funny as it sounds thats the name of it i dont see a manufacturer name on the can, i got it at Lowes its only 98 cents a can, and yes sir it is flat black and its fast dry, but for cheap spray paint it works pretty amazing, i did both my gun and pack with it and it was just as good as a 3-4 dollar can.
amazing looking pack. can’t say anything that hasnt been said already. be proud my friend, be very proud.
thats is probably the best gb1 pack i’ve seen, great work! i have a question though, where did you get your ribbon cable? i remember someone began offereing them last year, maybe namebrand? i did a quick search but didn’t find the post i remembered seeing before…anyhow, great pack!
SolidGoldCaddy sells it which I intend to get at some point.
What did you use to get the little silver nicks and scrapes on the cyclotron and gearbox, etc? And what technique did you use to paint them?
thanks again guys for the compliments, like i said its far from perfect and im still working on a few things. As for the silver nicks on the pack i actually used a really simple method that looks quite good i believe, all i did was buy a silver enamel paint marker from michaels cost about 3 dollars or something, i put a little bit of paint on the tip of a flathead screwdriver and just lightly swept the screwdriver across so it looks like a cut, i know some people do a silver or chrome undercoat, which works great as well and then you could just sand down but this method works well to, then just add some fullers earth on top of it and it looks great.
One more question… the rust. Cinnamon, or paint?
good’ol cinnamon inexpensive and great result
That’s a gorgeous GB1 pack, I’d be proud to call it my own. I see two things that need updating for true GB1-ness. As shown in the second half of the thread What the hell is that?, the large resistor on the right side of the Ion Arm should be a Sage M50W, it looks similar like the small one on the left side but is the same size as the Dale one you have now. It’s cheap and easy score on eBay and according to Namebrand it was replaced in GB2 with the Sage resistor you have now. Also the angle of the Thrower needs to be almost vertical, here’s some pics where you can see an example of how the male hook should be placed on the aluminum spacer.
