My Pack, up close and personal (pic heavy)New Video 02/22/08

Well I figured that before I packed the pack away for the big move, I’d snap a bunch of pics of it inside and out for all to see.

Its pretty much done, the legris are not installed, so I have generic pneumatic fittings with the wrong hose installed - had to be done since I needed to take it to a prop show on a days notice. I do have the Legris and hose, but it is packed.

Paint needs to be dulled out in some area’s, and i need to add a bit of rust.

Most of the finishing is now dependent on the installation of the electronics, which will have to wait until the move is complete. This is why the gun is missing a few lights, and the trigger box isn’t closed in.

Here are the credits for parts that I picked up from others on and off the boards. Thank you all for making this pack happen!!!

Shell - Funkzilla

Wand (Rexbox Kit) - St. Louis Kid

Motherboard, Resistors, and Hoses - Irricanian

Ribbon Cable - USMC Buzz

Staight Legris - Exoray

Gun knob masters, Ion arm end, gun hook, Clear wand Tip, Trigger Ring, and Ion knob(not installed yet) - Namebrand

Rub Down Transfers(Not installed yet) - Pete Venkman Jedi

Everything else was wither built or sourced from the manufacturers or suppliers on my own.

Here are a bunch of pics, some up close and personal. Enjoy!

Cam

Truly a thing of beauty Cam 8)

Makes me think I need to do a second myself…soon!

I loved the pictures , the angles you used. Your pack is amazing man!

Drools drools drools. I hope to be able to obtain the welded metal appearance that your pack has!

Sal

frack me that’s purrtyy!

Nice pack man! Just the right amount of weathering and everything. What’d ya use for the welded appearance. I used hot glue myself, but I didn’t know if there was a better alternative.

I can get very personal with that pack, I tell ya!

Nice work Cam!

Darrin

WOW i just noticed a few things you did on your thrower that I am completely missing looks like I have some detailing work to do..

Nice pack man.

Beautiful job. really.

What was your process for painting the pack? What materials and such?

On the picture of the top of the ion arm, witht the red warning sticker, it looks like the pack has some texture. Is that just from the fiberglass, or how did you do that?

wow, that is a great looking pack…I need someone to finish off my pack by adding the the cool weathering effects…I have tried my self but I think it doesnt look right or it doesnt look weathered enough…anyway mine looks a little off and yours looks freakin awesome

Thanks guys!

To answer all of your questions…

Hot glue is your friend. Not for adhering anything, but thats what I used for my welds as well. I did all of the welds before i painted, then drybrushed on the weathering.

What did you miss?! My gun is still missing a few things here and there.. mainly lighting add ons and such.

It’s 5 layers of primers and paint as follows. Prime - sand, silver - sand, Silver, Black, and Black.

I sanded the first coat of silver down smooth, but left the other coat unsanded for a bit of texture, much like you see on the picture you quoted. The paint still needs to be scuffed up and aged some more, and that will be another long thread of pictures once its done.

Cam

I noticed you have a little Square with a hex bolt on the bottom of the forward grip that I’m missing Never really noticed it till now.

I’m jealous, truely jealous…I now will have to find a way to blackmail you for this pack  lol j/k your pack is truely a work of art cam,

ah fellow hot glue welders!..eah i dont know how you did your hot glue welding but mine looks NOTHING like that…i need to go get a really small hot glue gun adn ill try again

First you wanted to ‘liberate’ my trap, and now blackmail me for my pack! I got my eye on you Malcolm… oh yes.. Sector 7 is watching… heh heh

Cam

SECTOR 7…yes! classic!

…mmmm…such a great movie.

Well I had to dig to find this old thread, but here’s somewhat of an ‘update’.

Before Halloween I installed Exorays pack and wand kit and went out on the town, shortly after it was packed up and set aside for moving. Well the final move was last weekend, and unfortunately in the process, the pack was pretty much destroyed. While being transported, the pack rolled onto its front and had a box follow suit on top of it. It snapped off the thrower, Ion arm, one powercell, the Booster, and a lot of the knobs and such are missing in action, and the bolts that held a lot of the parts to the fiberglass shell tore right through the glass leaving gaping holes in the shell.

I’m starting to carefully strip down whats left and start over again, so stay tuned for a fresh rework of what was already a pretty awesome pack.

Cam

Sorry to here that Cam,that sucks. But at least you can salvage and have the fun of the build again. I’m starting mine too, just waiting for some parts.

Man o man??? It would be important to post a pic of the accident…

So sorry to hear that, i can imagine how you felt to see the box crushed and imagined the condition of the pack inside.

Afther all your hard work. But Irri is right!!! Now you can start building again! An make an awesomer pack (hahaha)

That is a fantastic pack.

Love the attention to detail, metal knobs makes such a difference, gotta get in a run of metal pieces when one comes up.

Stunning job!
