Alright I’ve been working on my new top for my car, a black chevy cavalier. My first one was bland and not very exciting especially since I had 2 days to work on it. This next box top will have a StreetHawk light bar (retails at 930$ O.O) and so much needed improvment. Here me and my friend Alex (AKA DrFisk here on the boards)
The light bar controller is completely scratch built.
I did more work today and will post pics soon. Got new logos made by the UPS store believe it or not so will get more up soon. Let me know what you think. I know my car is black but that’s all I had to work with.
Can I offer constructive criticism? The front lightbar is attached to the car via two sheets of plywood. Not just that, but the bar seems to be mounted hanging over the roof of the car. Now I’m not sure how heavy that bar is, but plywood definately does not hold up well to the elements, and I don’t think it’d be strong enough to hold the bar there long before falling onto your windshield.
Maybe you can find a way to reinforce everything with a metal frame, possibly having it welded together? I just don’t want to see your car or your lightbar damaged.

One thing good about the Light-Bar is it’s only about 10bl. It’s mostly plastic and not a lot of heavy mechanical parts inside. When we drive around, we hit some big bumps and to my surprise it holds real well to stress. And you are right about the danger of whether to the wood. I was thinking to put a cote or two of some rubber based paint to correct this problem.
