EDIT UPDATE Updated the first post with probably the most recent pics. I’ll do some more cleaning up.
still aways to go. Been waiting on a camera to take pics. First I should say, I owe my dad ALOT ALOT ALOT for his help and hard work. I’d honestly be lost without his ideas and help. It’s coming along nicely, just gotta keep pluggin’ away! Thanks to Scott, NR1, Goosebuster, Slimer7 and everyone else who’s built slime blowers(I looked at all of them for different ideas) for the plans, help, discussions. It’s gettin there I think
I had a blog going, I might end up making some changes, who knows!
It looks fantastic! I’m very impressed by how well the domes on the green tanks look. Those were by far the hardest part to get right with my own Blower and I’m still not quite happy with them. Kudos to you!
Are you going to include working lights in yours? If so, will you create your own kit based off existing plans or will you take my own route and buy and rig Exoray Proton Pack lights?
Thanks man! The green domes are those black toilet tank float balls then bondo. They really fit right in the pvc pipe pretty well with a little glue. I was impressed when it really started taking shape too. Then just sand the hell out of it. :boogieman: I’m pretty pleased with the color of them too.
I think I might end up just not having the gun lights not work. Yeah yeah I know :lol: The white box will probably light up. Hadn’t even given much thought to the power cell yet as far as what to do!
Thanks! Slowly but surely. To all the slime blower guys, was there a definitive set of labels you used? I know of the Singer label work on proptopia and Slimer7 posted the labels he used and if that’s what people were goin with for now?
I used the labels you posted in the link above plus some of the Proton Pack labels; however, the blower labels are of poor quality, so I used photoshop to recreate them myself at a larger size…
I think those are on my old hard drive for my PC. I’m using a Mac Mini now. Give me a little time, and I’ll see if I can dig those out to post here.
Cool. That’s what I was thinking, the labels looked good but were pretty distorted. The ones with the red text on the green tanks looks like they’d look best printed on something clear maybe since everyone’s greens are probably a little different! Something to look into though I should probably worry about all the other parts before
Since my pack was somewhat primitively made for my first “big” project, I’m trying to do this one right…no cardboard :lol:
Very small update for today. Masked off and started the caution stripe. Fun stuff!
:shock: Well I hate to say not too much of an update. I have started to paint the connectors and I think the board and boxes will come together kinda quick. Gettin’ to be crunch time. :oops: Decided to say “hell with it” to finding the “accurate” lights for now since the stock picture of them tends to not mean too much anymore finding out. For now went with some lawn lights at Lowes for like $5 each and some small boxes painted black with the lights mounted flush on the front. Gotta close the box in. I think it would be possible to get them lit but may not bother for now, we’ll see. I was starting to think it would be obnoxious in settings with lots of people. Well I guess if you just turn them on and then off
The back of the lamp is a little bit big but I think it will definetly be a suitable alternative for now!
Thanks man. It’s looking like a good alternative for now the more I look at it. Did some work with my dad today, the lights mounted, the ball valve in place with the bike handle, the green light, a few more things to finish up the gun. I took some pics but some are only slight things but the gun’s almost done! With that, the 3 tanks done, I feel confident the boxes and wood stuff will come together somewhat easily.

I’m more havin’ doubts about taking it out anywhere haha remember how Halloween was at the bar with my pack. I may risk that taking another beating, even though it made it out virtually unscathed. Then may take the Blower to a party with people who have seen me as a GB to where I know there will be ALOT less people.

I wore mine at AdventureCon and after several hours it killed my neck the pack itself was heavier than my proton pack and with the gun attached it got real heavy after a while. I do prefer my proton pack more to wear now.
Im not entirley sure how the ALICE frames work but heres a hint (for anone not used to wearing heavy gear like that or just a general hint)… DONT tighten shoulder straps to much, you want to tighten the waist straps more to take the weight off your shoulders and it is a major back saver. On a fire scene you could be in a SCOTT (or insert other name brand here) pack for a few hours… the only reliefe being a few seconds when someone changes your bottle or if the rehab nazis tell you to take a break. Even seasond firefighters with 10+ years on the job forget that the waist strap is a life saver. So use the shoulder straps to get the pack up on your back, but dont use them to support a majority of the weight, youll be surprised about the difference.
Well it’s really gettin there! I have some yellow tape I “borrowed” from work that will work nicely for the hazard stripes. The yellow paint wasn’t workin out too well. :whatever: I might not worry about the vest for the time being. Got the stuff to do it, just have to cut the frame and the boxes and see if my maroon ball will work or if I’ll still need to find something else. Then labels. The tanks are done, everything just needs to be mounted.
The gun needs some finishing stuff to be done, getting something for the band by the cone, the left handle is being worked on, then nothing as far as the cone has been secured(the screen material, sprinkler etc) The cone worked out better than I thought, would you believe a vegetable chopper? Some stuff got beat up a little on the gun, its okay I think, the movie ones don’t exactly look pristine. The cap paint will be touched up a bit.
Overall, it’s very exciting! I owe so much to my Dad for all his great help, ideas. There’s no way I would have made it near this far without his help. Just trying to find time with our schedules to do work!
It’s actually a vegetable chopper from Wal Mart. It was a little costly, maybe like $13. :shock: Meh I have a little bit of money to dump on this project It’s not exactly like the cone but it’s lookin pretty sweet. After being gutted, the thing sits right on top of the gun perfecty with the plastic part of the chopper fitting right inside the gun. The sprinkler head looks to be a great fit as well! The planets must have aligned on that one. It’s now figuring out how to make the connection from the cone/gun look decent! The cone looks great, it’s just a hair smaller.
The whole thing really isn’t that complex it’s funny but I think the aluminum really makes it look like something and all the crazy crap they put on it. My mom came out to the garage and was like “that looks complicated!”
Also, if Slimer7 or anyone is reading, I’d love to get the definitive set of labels. I saw the ones Slimer7 posted but maybe if he or anyone else has the high quality versions of them, that’d save me from having to make them. Shoot me a message!
