That’s because that’s how it should be spelt. You yanks can’t spell. ![]()
A shame in ways that they didn’t do a new sculpt, but it was the likely outcome. Whilst I’d like to see one of them in person… the translucent version doesn’t look too bad.

I already have one, not interested in a translucnet one. I’ll happily buy new stuff, and even variants of the four GBs if they wanted to reuse the same mold and put them in various uniforms. But I have no intention of buying another Slimer.
I had to sell all of my old NECA figures awhile back.. so I’ll be buying this.
But seriously, what are the chances we can get all 4 GBs?
I’ll say that both the Terror Dogs were rediculous.. I mean they were the same ■■■■■■■ thing. It was cool having Gozer, but that would have been more suffice for a 2nd wave.. although I know Murray was holding up everything. Still disappointing.
But they NECA DOES still have the license, then? There’s always hope..
The chances of them greenlighting just a Slimer figure on it’s own (considering the lackluster sales OF THE SAME FIGURE COLLECTION???) slim to none. There HAS to be GB’s. I’m a fan, but if I owned a toy company, and my design dept said, “Hey boss, remember that line of cool sculpts we did for Ghsotbusters that didn’t sell? Well, we are doing a repaint of Slimer, and do Louis Tully and Walter Peck for our first wave!” I would beat them all with rubber hoses until they died!!! There is just no way that they are just doing a clear Slimer. No way, not how. Even the die hard fans are saying,“I’m not going to buy THAT.” Where’s the market? I am being Overly optimistic, : )
I’d be happy with a librarian figure with karate chop action or maybe the fro-haired electric shock student that lights up.
Nope, no misplaced anger toward Clavet at all. The pessimism is just directed toward the toy companies in general (not necessarily NECA on its own, because other parties - ahem - Hasbro - are guilty of it too). Holographic versions of Darth Vader? Ghost Anakin Skywalker? I’m looking at you two…
But NECA’s really milking that mold for all its worth, right? Action figure, bobble head, Christmas light fixtures, dancing electronic version, and now Slimer Lite (Same Slimer, Less Filling). Even as a fan it’s getting kind of crazy how many products have been offered essentially being the same thing.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m extremely grateful for NECA to be carrying the licensing torch but c’mon…
You know well enough that they made more than one mould of their design of Slimer for all of the products they made of him.
I’m not saying it’s the greatest development but come out, out of all the characters they produced he’s the one that makes the most sense to relaunch, firstly because the others can’t be made transparent, secondly because Slimer has always been a easily recognisable character, to our chagrin. Because of the cartoon, Slimer will be one of the things people will always remember Ghostbusters for.
And the varient argument would be valid in my mind if NECA had released a bajillion different varients like Hasbro has, in comparison Hasbro is a Swedish prostitute to NECA’s one-night-only to pay this month’s rent.
It’s not about defending everything with a logo on it, either. I’m not gonna be buying the figure as I already have the original slimer they released… but who are they hurting? If it helps keep the licence they bought active, and shows they’re willing to do more Ghostbusters stuff then great. If it means they’re trying another go at getting figures of the guys, and if they’re successful then we all win.
As for why two Terror Dogs? I liked having both of them, regardless of the fact the only difference were the horns. If it helps explain, they’d originally designed them to also have a Gozer’s temple base… and to me it’d look odd to only have one Terror Dog.
Yeah, they definitely had to have made more than one “mould” of slimer for all of his occurances in the Ghostbusters line of products… -giggle-
I think what net is trying to get at here, is that the lot of people who aren’t specifically die hard fans who may have bought the previous NECA figures may just see this as another Slimer. Some of those are likely to not purchase what they feel is the same product again.
So they have to be hoping for either greater penetration of retail locations this time around, or for a flood of new buyers from all the other GB marketing.
I don’t think Troy was putting them down persay, but more or less suggesting this has the potential to be only as profitable as the original Slimer by NECA unless they acquire the rights to make the actual Busters.
You confused the heck out of me when you capitalized “Die Hard”. I thought you were talking about Bruce Willis.
Duly noted and edited for clarity. Sorry, my brain is a bit fried at this point.
Yeah, don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely not putting down NECA and am still glad to have them in our corner. But I take one look at this and immediately feel like it’s a peg-warmer… and I want to see NECA succeed, I want to see them thrive.
They’re not hurting anyone, and I’m not angry - maybe it’s coming off that way because I’ve been working 18 hour days for the past two weeks and am just being frank and getting to the point. I’d say that the emotion trying to be conveyed is sheer disappointment.
Ron makes a good point, market penetration will be easier considering the buzz around Ghostbusters now verses where it was at when the first wave of figures was released, but even more reason to go all-out and hook buyers. If that’s their intention then good on them, I just hope they’re not counting on the fans to fuel the sales of a new translucent figure. If I’ve got the hardback already, why would I buy the paperback?
Hmm, now I’ve seen the photo I’m not so sure about this one. The translucent plastic makes it look kind of cheap. I already have three Slimers all of the same mold so I don’t really need a fourth. I’m in two minds about this, I’ll wait and see what accessories (if any) it comes with and what the cost is.
Being the fan I am, I didn’t buy any of NECA’s Ghostbuster line when it hit the shelves.. In fact, I was so out of touch with toys at the time, I was pumped to see Gozer and Slimer dangling from the peg - until I checked on them and realized there were no actual Ghostbusters involved in the Ghostbusters toy line.
Honestly, and this is probably because I don’t own a previous mold, I might be interested in the new Slimer.. I think it looks a little more “authentic” being translucent. Perhaps if they really want the ■■■■■■■■ fans to help keep these newly colored, but same molded figures going, they should spend some cash on the marketing and change the packaging.
Prototype Onionhead figure, anyone? Now, it’s no longer another cast of Slimer on the same mold, and a definite “must have” for all those ■■■■■■■■ fans out there. ![]()
I don’t get it, how would changing the name of the figure to “Prototype Onionhead” make it a must buy? Because the name is different?

Because it was just a joke. Guess it didn’t work, so I’ll let everyone get back to the whining instead.
I got it, but sarcasm is hard to detect sometimes on the interwebz.
