Oh hell no, it’s an incredibly stupid idea, no way around that it’s abundantly dumb. There’s so much ignorant hate floating out there that I’d be absolutely surprised if the crazy christian right DIDN’T get upset over it. So regarding the wisdom of building a Mosque 2 blocks from Ground Zero considering the millions of those people in this country and knowing the way they think, what ever *wise *is… it’s the opposite. It’s simply bound to cause problems. But then again women voting was bound to cause problems. And throwing tea into Boston Harbor was bound to cause problems.
But “sensitivity” aside (which is BS, will take far too long to actually elaborate on while I attempt to keep my posts short and to the point, so if you need to know why it’s BS feel free to PM me)… it’s legal by all State regulations and zoning laws, and it’s protected by the Constitution. Because that’s why we have the Constitution. To protect the smaller voices, the unpopular voices. Freedom of Religion doesn’t mean Freedom So Long As I Approve. Not Freedom of Speech So Long As I Agree. It’s Freedom. There are risks and rewards to Freedom. I like Freedom. It’s pretty bitchin. Especially when you understand and appreciate what Freedom actually is and means.
And like I’ve said I don’t play favoritism like 99.9% the rest of the people in this country, both those on the Left and on the Right, neither side is innocent.
Right now we have a large group of people yelling about Constitution this and Constitution that… when it suits their pre-determined agenda. But if they DISLIKE something, no matter the reason, well then the Constitution can be ignored “this one time” an end justifying the means. It’s bad enough most of those crazies are salad-bar christians to begin with, picking and chosing which parts of the bibble they want to follow and which parts of the bibble they can just ignore. It’s their faith, fine, let them be that dumb that’s their choice and their Right. I’ll mock them, sure. I’m not going to stop them from believing that way. But there’s no salad-bar Constitution. Not in my book.
