New York City???

Alright, PKE went great this year in Atlanta from the looks of it, sadly, due to financial issues, I could not attend. This problem was probably true for a few others who i’m sure, like me, really wanted to attend. So, i offer a thought/solution/compromise/whatever. How about…New York City for PKE 2010. Now some of you may be screaming at me right now but hear me out. This is not a bash to the idea or the location. I simply think New York City is good for a few reasons.

1]Location- Right along the coast, easy to get too, hard to miss. Next to impossible to get lost, which brings me to my next point:

2]Transportation Options-Be it by plane, train, car, boat, whatever, it’s easy to get here, and easy to get around. We got more subways, busses and ferries then you can shake a cattle prod at.

3]Hotels- Again, we got tons of em, all for varrying prices, all in different locations, with tons of options.

4]Food And Drink- We’re all fat-■■■■■ at heart, and NYC can accommodate stomachs and livers in every shape size and style, be it Italian, Fast Food or Steak.

**5]Open 24/7- ** Nightowl? Not a problem, many parts of the city don’t close, or close late, so if you have a hankering for weird movies at 3am, you’ll find a place.

6]Meeting Dates And Locations- We can do it for next years NYC Comic Con, or we can set up another date, and we got the places to do it, MSG, Javits Center, Brooklyn Bridge Park…i could go on.

7]Safety!- Be it my FDNY boys, or the NYPD, you won’t find a safer town then New York.

And the most important Reason:

We Are Ghostbusters Town! Ladder 8? No where else! 55CPW? Ain’t gonna find it in another city either! This is the town where the boys in gray were born, and what better a place to celebrate them then here in New York? For some reason, the people at Sony And Atari have dropped the ball on celebrating here in the city, It’s high time we show them how wrong that was. Think of this: The worlds largest gathering of Ghostheads ever…in front of the library. Ecto replicas lined up in front of the firehouse. Think about it.

This is really the wrong forum for this.

PKE Surge 2010 will be at Dragoncon again in 2010 as far as we presently know, but that doesn’t stop you from planning your own.

I’m afraid not. When I started toying with the idea of PKE Surge it was always to be held in Atlanta during Dragon Con. Not only do you have a higher percentage of members who can attened, but you also have a con that is big (but not too big) the parade and no chance of getting lost.

With Dragon Con there is no reason to be moving outside of the convention area by more than a few blocks. Doing so is a recipe for disaster, we found this out twice. New York is huge, and while for those who live there it is simple to navigate can be overwhelming for those who are not used to it. Sure Atlanta is a big city, but nothing compared to New York. People would get lost.

Parking fees are astronimical as it is. I have no shiny desire to pay out the rear to get to New York with so much gear much less then have to pay thier insane parking and endless road tolls.

Dragon Con is a place were we can have roots, a place were it is feasable to become active within the convention, has enough draw to make sure around the clock activities can be found and is easily accessable to most parties.

I understand fanancially it can be difficult. But it is not impossible, I do thank you for your reasoning. But PKE Surge will not move, I do however encourage you do try something of your own. I know I will be trying to make it Wizard World this fall even if just for a day. Perhaps not in full gear, but I will try.

No no, the next one is in Sydney. See you all there! 2010 ALRIGHT!

While PKE Surge is centered around Dragon*Con 2009, GBFans will have a presence at many Conventions across the country from now on.

We were invited to Wizard World New York in October, and I am highly considering going to that personally.

Big Apple Con?

Sweet! I was just about to suggest Wizard’s Big Apple Con!

Again, PKE Surge’s location will not be moving. Representations of PKE Surge may appear at other cons for advertisement and awareness but the event itself including community Crunch awards, Give Aways and such will not be moving. Again i welcome people to create more Ghostbusters awareness but Dragon Con has already (as I had hoped) proved to be the right spot for PKE Surge.
